"It is very difficult for us to see any kind of unification talks even in our lifetimes," Ma said. "Taiwanese people would like to have economic interactions with the mainland, but obviously they don't believe their political system is suitable for Taiwan."


I guess that about says it all. You aren't getting Taiwan peacefully as mainland China is Communist. I guess that's why China has been doing a massive military (especially Navy) buid-up recently.

How do you expect Taiwan to even consider talks when the mainland now has almost 1000 missles pointed at the Island. Intimidation never works that way.
