Any smudge advice ... please post!

Okay ... those who have been here a while know that I'm a 'haunted person'. Spooks everywhere .. all the time .. every house I've lived in ... every building I've worked in.

This weekend I finally tried smudging. I ordered white sage smudge sticks from New Mexico and went through the house, from top to bottom, smudging. I used Christian prayers for the dead as well as Christian exorcism prayers along with the smudge sticks.

I read that the smudge sticks take the spook energy out of the house and that if you smudge often then the spooks will be sick (literally) of being around and being lifeless and will give up and leave.

I also read that some spooks can make people sick since they drain the energy from the house AND from the occupants. They need the energy to manifest, etc etc. We had a terrible winter of sickness and so I thought that if it were partly because of the spooks (and we have plenty here) then perhaps smudging might help.

I used white sage (to get rid of the spooks). I also bought black sage (mugwort?)- which is supposed to promote healing.

The prayers I said were Christian prayers and these should not have been offensive to any native american traditions -

1 - St. Michael Prayer - asking the angels to keep the house and occupants safe from evil spirits.

2 - The 'rest in peace' prayer - 'May the souls of the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace ... May the souls of those wandering in this house, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.'

3 - "Our Father who art in Heaven - deliver us from evil".

4 - And I asked for the Blood of Christ to enter our home and cleanse anywhere the smoke touched. (which was pretty much everywhere because I really doused the house a good one).

I kinda mixed Christian and a bit of Native American (by using the smudge stick), but I thought the Native Americans were on to something with it.

I had a hard time getting the smudge stick to light. It refused to light anywhere until I got to the kitchen and then .. WHOOSH it lit and smoked up really good. Then I took it through the house.

RESULTS - It's only been four days, but all the activity is dormant. We usually have lots of footsteps, lots of creaking floors and stairways (and banisters creeking like someone is leaning on them), lots of spook activity with my daughters toys and the dog toys squeeking by themselves, lots of activity at the bookcase with the books being rummaged through .... but it's quiet.

The house sounds like we are inside a big cotten ball. QUIET.

I know it won't last forever and that I'll have to resmudge and resay the prayers. But it's nice.

Any smudge suggestions??

Yeah, i suggest some sort of real exorcism, or getting a person who an get rid of the activity. These things can actually just make demons angry at you, and wanna attack. I'd also suggest learning some shielding, instead of relying on a plant. Rely on yourself. The mind can be a very powerful thing when awakened and put to use.

The house has been blessed.
We have plenty of blessed objects around.
And nothing is demonic.

I've run into damned souls/demons in Japan.

The difference is between a ghost and a damned soul or a demon is almost tangible. There is no mistaking the difference.

Any smudge suggestions??

While it's not a smudge suggestion, I don't believe spirits need the energy to manifest but rather it's more a heroin/junkie kind of thing. In the afterlife there's no "chi/ki/phrana/Holy Spirit/life energy" it radiates from our physical bodies and our spirit is attached to that physical and uses it daily. A spirit might come along and feel that energy (and feel better than before it was absent from it's existence) and be drawn to it (rather than be drawn to the person). Some spirits might realize they are deceased and move on. Some only realize after a while and move on. It might also be that there are too many spirits around an individual and (s)he might get fatigued and lateron sick. Spirits that realize they are deceased but will still not go either don't know how or don't want to (the latter I'd call 'demonic').

I'm not of any religion but I do pray (when dealing with spirits) and when I do I usually pray to the ancestors of the spirit in question. Everyone has had family, there's always someone showing up and guiding the spirit to move on. This way a spirit will not take offense when a different religion is called upon.

That cotton ball comparison sounds like a nice job done!

I posted a fairly long story a while back detailing the extremely bizarre sounds
that manifest in my house. The consensus opinion seems to be that they're
caused by a restless or mischievous entity.

I burn sage and sweetgrass. Sweetgrass has a light, vanilla-like smell.
A Lakota Indian friend told me the sage repels bad spirits, and the sweetgrass
attracts good spirits. We also leave a few bunches of sweetgrass lying around, and the scent lasts for weeks. I picked enough sage on a South Dakota prairie to fill a large grocery bag. I wouldn't want to be without either item.
Some plant nurseries or garden centers sell sweetgrass plugs, and you can grow it in your yard.

It sounds like the smudging worked for you. You're probably welcoming the quiet, after hearing the sounds constantly. I honestly think the smudging has worked for me...I'll experience 6-7 months of quiet before having an episode of the strange noises.

Regarding the prayers, I've heard more than one instance of the prayer to
St Michael the Archangel "cleaning out" a place of nasty entities or evil spirits. Fortunately you didn't have anything like that in your house.
Your having experiences with damned souls is scary! I'd like to hear more
about that....ie: Where in Japan did you experience them? Hopefully not in a place you lived!

I'm not arguing here... only relaying things I've been told, and I've been told there are definitely malevolent entities who can and will drain energy from people, to the point of physically weakening them. Some of the nicest people
can be preyed upon by these entities if they let themselves get into a situation that may attract said entities.

My Lakota friend said these beings are pretty common. He claimed there's actually a "class" or type of them that hang out in bars, casinos, and such places. They are attracted to the base, vulgar energies there.

I lived in Japan for 3 years. Camp Zama Japan. The 'damned souls' or evil spirits (don't know which) were in the building I worked in. (the house was haunted too, but that's another story). These entities HATED. They were pure HATE. There is no other word for it. The building was a rather quiet one, on the edge of the military post. We only had a dozen or so Americans and a handful of Japanese working there. The Catholic Americans felt the spirits, the non-Catholics didn't. (strange, eh?) We felt HATE standing next to us and we felt that all the hate was directed at us. It was only in certain parts of the building. In the other parts, we felt watched by people we couldn't see and we heard LOTS of footsteps and strange noises.

It was the HATE .. pure HATE ... and it was all directed toward you. You can't miss it. It's amazingly evil. Pure evil. I can't even put it into words ....

Never saw them .. just felt them. And that was enough. I can't imagine the ugliness of what was pumping out that hate. Don't want to even think about it .... (shudder)

Ahh, and what class would that be? Wraiths? I once saw one in a theatre. Hideous, but blurry. Very odd.

Okay .. one month later. ...

The house got noisy again. The spook(s) were active again.
We've been getting the usual footsteps, creeks, and pokes.

So .. we smudged again.

But this time, instead of feeling like we were in a giant cotton ball
and having everything quiet... nothing changed. The house is still
rock'n to the spooks.

We did everything exactly the same. But the house is still loud.

odd.

cedar and sage stick

Cedar is burned very good for cleansing but also offers protection. I recommend sage and cedar for those that wish to cleanse an area of item that has a very negative feel to it. This could be for ritual, divination, tool consecration or house blessing. We include instructions on how to smudge.

sage - removes negativity

cedar - offers powerful protection and consecration

A good choice for blessing a home or consecrating divination tools.
can be used many times till it's gone
approx 6 1/2" long - instructions included

www.alleghenycandles.com...

I'm dealing with issues as well. Ever have the flying insects?

I wish you well....

Good Luck, Jenna

Please feel free to post the info.

I'm Christian so I'm using Christian prayers with the smudging.
I'm not going to cross over into the wiccan prayers.
But feel free to post whatever info you have.

Take White Sage, Eucalyptis, and Frangipani. White Sage for clearing the negative energies, Eucalyptis for healing, and Frangipani to restore peace and harmony. Use whatever method of smudging that you prefer, and try saying this prayer:

"My Lord Jesus, Son of God, whose name we raise on high, who gave us the Holy Spirit which lives in all of us. Wash this place in your blood, just as you've washed us in your blood and freed us from sin, and deliver lost souls to you. Remove the bond to Earth, release them from this hold and light their way to you. Being them back to your warm and compassionate embrace. Claim your lost sheep, those who have staid away from you and are lost. Let them do no damage to themselves or those that live in this house. Let them mingle with this smoke, put your power into this and let them heal and give them peace. Let your prace sooth them through this so that their hostility and need be gone and be satisfied. Let them be brought to you again. Bring them the peace they need to move from this place. Jesus, I beg of you, remove any evil that lurks here, banish it away from this place, and deliver it to where it belongs. Let this White Sage surround it, and with your power, be cast away. I call to you desprately, Jesus, I call to you Lord that you may here me and let what I ask become.
Amen."

Spray holy water as you please, if you please. Or, have some sort of pastor take care of this instead.
You seem pretty sensitive to this, and they may just be drawn to you as they are to most sensitive people. They most likely just want to be recognised, and may be a little confused because they don't know their dead, or they don't know how to move on. Try saying out loud that you are willing to help them if they allow you to, then say the prayer. Change it as you see fit.
