To be fair, an article could just as easily read "Imminent discovery of no life on mars" and be just as well written.

While I believe that Mars did in fact have the opportunity to develop primitive life (not the kind all the fools who see life in every rover photo see, though, lol) I do not think we are sending the correct equipment (nor has it been even proposed) to dig up and real facts.

The quickest way for man to discover mars life (or real evidence of it in the past) is to send manned mission to mars. It will be years and years before the public will endorse such an expenditure or resources in order to do this, though, for obvious reasons.
