How can you protect electronics from EMPs?

Topic started on 14-5-2008 @ 06:09 AM by drock905

What is the simpliest way to protect your electronics from an EMP attack?

What types of electronic components will be most vulnerable?

Some specific examples/concerns in the context of a SitX:

An EMP attack occurs:

Your going to need some way of establishing communication and to gather intel from outside your region. Lets assume you have some sort of radio device, Shortwave,CB, etc.

How would you go about protecting this vital piece of gear? What type of device would survive an EMP the easiest? Would a tube based device prehaps be best?

If you live in a populated area and need to flee after an attack. How would you preemptively shield your getaway vehicle? What type of car will be the least vulnerable? What is affected? The ingnition system, computers, wiring? Would an electronic ignition do worse then a distributor with points?

Is there a way to construct a dwelling with some sort of shielding to protect the equipment inside?

What are your suggestions?
