Chad closes its border with Sudan

Chad has closed its border with Sudan and suspended economic ties.

The move comes a day after Sudan cut diplomatic relations with Chad following a rebel attack near the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

The Sudanese authorities accused Chad of helping a Darfur rebel group attack the city of Omdurman outside Khartoum - a charge Chad denies.

I have been following this story since the attack over the weekend. I strongly believe that JEM, was coerced and funded by the Government of Chad to initiate these attacks. It is interesting to see how these next few days/weeks pan out.

I think that this may be the beginning to a conflict in the region between these two States. There is no love lost between these two and I would not be surprised to start seeing some more mud being flung at one another.

Neither of these countries have very decent Air Forces so any battle would be fought on the ground. Only time will tell.
