
I'm waving my arms very frantically as I naysay this.
Musharraf's junta wanted nothing more than to have her silenced, and this would've been the *perfect* weapon to do so.
Why didn't they?

Because saying so would have made the US blow its top, and cut off the support the US was giving to Musharraf.
All in all, too much potential for unpredictable major blowback.
And Bhutto did get silenced, after all.
