I fail to understand how either India or Pakistan benefit from using nuclear weapons against their immediate neighbour. The environment and generations to follow would suffer from the nuclear fallout. Nobody defecates in their own drinking water. The Himalayas would be damaged Kashmir and would not be worth arguing over after nuclear war in the region. It is about as sensible as the US and Canada using nuclear weapons against each other...and we know the politicians have become more reasonable about that type of behaviour...although Bush does make me wonder...

I'm waving my arms very frantically as I naysay this.

Musharraf's junta wanted nothing more than to have her silenced, and this would've been the *perfect* weapon to do so.

Why didn't they?

Because saying so would have made the US blow its top, and cut off the support the US was giving to Musharraf.

All in all, too much potential for unpredictable major blowback.

And Bhutto did get silenced, after all.
