Is there such a deal as black market books on the paranormal and other goods?
If so, how you go about looking for them?
I'm also looking for books and connections related to the occult and paranormal and a way to zone out since meditation seems to elude me.
Any links or ideas?

I would recommend Eckhart Tolles audio book "A new earth" - and even the free audio/video series he and Oprah just finished. May not sound mystical
for you, but you wanted practicality and that is what he has to offer - not theory or something to 'do'.
It works, or did with me.
Oh there are tons of free 'sacred'/'occultic' text online from all facets of relgion, etc. if thats what your looking for. A lot of it is in
Latin and not translated, but a lot is translated...or its in Hebrew and not translated. (though one rabbi, at Koshertorah.com is doing a lot of
translation of works...as well as the late rabbi Aryeh Kaplan.)
But all that stuff is mostly theory to feed the mind...yes you could get the practicality out of it...but often its to obscured by words.
Peace

Okay then, thanks.
What are the ones in Latin and Hebrew called?
And as of the other question, like in New Orleans, how do you go about finding the good stuff?

You seem to be looking for some sort of Hollywood-esque 'heres how to do the mystical' type book.
There would be, in my opinion, no such book(s). There are books which contain magic of all types (candle, incantation, runes, crystals, etc...). Alot
of it always seems to boil down to working with, directing or obtaining energy.
I am not sure if it actually 'works' or not.
Perhaps it does. I, through my 'upbringing' [there has to be a less awkward word then that] both witnessed and took part in quite a bit of holiday
and private ritual.
Anyway, my point is -finally!- that there may or may not be something to different sorts of 'magic' --I seem to think alot of it is mind over
matter; the real question being to what extent can it(we) affect the world around us.
Are you going to find alot of sacred and mystical books which boil down to the same general message? Probably. Are you going to find something which
can allow you to suddenly wield incredible, reality deffying, power? No...and if anyone says they have they are probably lying.
Just my take.

No I am not..
Nothing like the holy grail, or the spear of destiny, and no one is going to help me much with this.
And none of my past experiences or encounters are going to change your mind either.
Now,
What I'm REALLY looking for the really rare pain in the *** books, items, people or services that you can't find in any phone book or run of the
mill tarot card reader stand.
Do you have any ideas on how to do this?
Or should I just end up quoting Voltaire instead?

Not to sound nit-picky: I never implied that you were looking for fictional artifacts. It sounded (still sounds) like you are looking for some magical
short cut.
When you mention 'black market' occult books and finding the 'good stuff' in New Orleans it reads that way (to me at least).

Try me. I am very interested in hearing peoples experiences and encounters.

Again, it seems like your asking for something very specific but you are asking for it in a vague sort of way.
Do you have any names for these books or at least the traditions from which they originate? Information such as this can be very helpful for those
trying to help you out.
What is the 'good stuff'? Are you looking for a type of mystical, not-for-the-tourists type voodoo practice?
Fill in the blanks a bit more for us and we can take your request a little more seriously and tackle it with a clear goal (or at least a bit less
blurry).
