Considering the historical precedent of the government
running drills on the day of the 9/11 attacks as cover for the
actual operation, this 8-day long anti-terror and disaster
exercise sparked some real concern.

Here at ATS, is where I first became aware of stories like this
involving possible nightmare scenarios of gov round-ups taking
place. Very shocking at first, but kind of expected nowadays.
But still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end!

The article said it was most likely a 'test' of FEMA's systems'
abilities, while detaining illegal aliens.

Aren't governments supposed to fear their people, instead of
people fearing their gov?

Well if FEMA is involved in some civilian round-up at some point we can be pretty sure they'll pooch that as badly as they did the Katrina relief. FEMA can't get out of their own way.
