Hi all,

I was looking at news articles on the burma situation and felt it was reminisant of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. There are similarities, a weather phenomenon and also the government of the country witholding aid supplies. Is it a technology test in weather modification in a military frame of reference.

Any thoughts on the causes, situation and fallout from this event?

Having lived through Katrina, I don't see similarites. Aid was not refused in New Orleans. The leaders from the Govenor down to the Mayor did not think the storm would be as bad as it was, and did not request assistance until it was too late. Also, residents were instructed to leave well before the storm hit, and many chose not to of their own free will.

From what I understand the people in Myanmar were not given any warning to leave.

Weather just happens. I don't believe this was weather modification.

Thanks for your reply Enthralled Fan, you make some good points.

The reason I put this in Skunk works is that it is a purely speculative thread. What I am interested in different perspectives in relation to the Myamar and Katrina events and how they are both being handled by the respective authorities.
