DARPA, the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, has been ordered (by the president and Congress) to develop world-class offensive and defensive Cyber War capabilities. Initial emphasis will be on defensive measures. This is a big deal. DARPA hasn't been given this large a project since Russia launched the first space satellite in 1957.

Cyber War is all about finding flaws in Internet software and using those flaws to infiltrate or take over other peoples computers.

We are all aware of steps taken by governments to ensure monitoring over the internet, however, i shudder to think what the 'real' outcomes of this project will be.

When it mentions that this is the largest project since 1957 i am really starting to wonder how huge this project will become and whether i need to wrap my computer in tin foil (or twenty firewalls, either way).
