pffff in my days we had ethics and morals.

this new generation has a total lack of respect, it's just for the hacking itself and not to improve world wide security of networks and servers anymore.

I am sorry to hear this Springer, I hope something can be done about this in the future, because ATS without the search function is somewhat awkward and it makes this Conspiracy Cat scratching the wallpaper of his walls.

Thanks for your reply.

I agree, but maybe we will get a new and improved search feature because of this, I'm not saying it's good that it happened.

I don't really have any ideas on how to improve the search feature other than adding a lazer cannon to it.

AD, have you contacted any of the mods of BTS about this? Have you "alerted" any of these threads? With over 5,400 new posts a day it's REAL hard to catch everything, especially on BTS.

If you will "alert" these threads it will make it much easier for the staff to see them and deal with them.

Hi AD . I think that part of the problem is determining the difference between what is considered a "game thread" and what may be considered a kind of fun participation thread. Some of them are quite obvious, like..."I found this game on another website...", I'm sure that's a no no, but some of these threads lay in that gray area and an OP may not consider it a game per say but just a fun thread. As I mentioned several pages back I think that there needs to be more clarity on this particular matter, what's exceptable and what's not especially now that BTS seems to be seeing more participation.

What if there was a new category to accomodate this type threads?

Look at the bottom of this post. There's a button that says "send u2u". Hit it and I'll try to help you out. If it's a techie question though you might need someone else.

you can also click on any of the mod names on the left side of the board home page.

I'm surprised that an admin passed the buck. I know I do it but, in this case, it wasn't me and I thought I was the only good for nothing slacker.

At the top of the page, you'll see the forum name, BB&Q, click on that and when it takes you to the forum thread list look up at the top for "favourite" hit that and make the thread one of your favourites and it'll show updated threads in the forum as they come in as well as new threads.

Or you can subscribe to the thread by clicking on "subscribe" underneath the flag icon.

Hope this helps

Sorry, forgot to add that this will enable you to view subscribed or favourite forums in "myATS" which is always my first port of call

Hey Mark...
Yes I have pointed out a couple. I was just wondering if it was a rule that perhaps had fallen by the wayside of importance.
I don't want to hit the alert on someone for trying to have fun. But we have a host of new moderators too. I was just thinking of a gentle reminder is all.
I hate being whiney, complainy...especially when it comes to BTS. I was going to post a link to Bill's thread on the subject if I see a new game thread pop up...
But I don't want to play Mod.

I have no idea if the rule has gone by the wayside or not, I don't think it has though...

I suggest getting with one (or many) of the BTS Mods and discussing it. If there is another rash of repeat "post above me" threads or "bling threads" it needs to be dealt with.

I personally don't have an issue with ONE of each kind of thread going but I don't have to deal with it either.

I would point out that BTS is there for the members to have some fun (within the TAC of course)... So, if there is something fun, that isn't a management nightmare, that you would like to have available make a suggestion and see what happens.

Hmm, that creates a fuzzy gray area where mods have to chose which threads stay open, and which ones do not.
All I'm suggesting, is that a definite criteria be laid out for those types of threads, so that we as members know what not to do, and the Mods can accurately deal with those threads that need to be dealt with.
Again, I know you guys are busy with UFO and Election related threads right now, so I'm not rushing the issue. I just don't want to see it get out of hand again.
Thanks for your reply Mark.

Anon Posts get vetoed first by Staff.

Until one of us either *approves* or *kills* it, it remains invisible within the thread.

They do however float around in the cyber *ether* until approval - so they do show up in the reply lists (normally the 'last reply by...' bit at the end of each thread). If you see a thread that lists a last reply as being from an Anon - but its invisible to you when you click on it - then its waiting till a Staff Member has check it and clicked the 'Live' or 'Kill' button.

Cheers.
