Well for someone that just surfs the web that is. Thread

I guess I don't really have choice.

Dude, one word................ Firefox. Ask anyone.

Better not ask me, I prefer Opera.

Firefox.. nothing better. I'm using Firefox and have zero problems with ATS and when I do come across an IE only site.. I put it on IE Tab's list and then those pages are rendered with IE's engine. Firefox 4 beta will be out late June/July.. can't wait.

I was wondering whether it would be possible for the site admin to add something like a [ n ] ... [/ n ] BBcode that would produce normal text within [ ex ] ... [/ ex ] code, i.e. straighten the otherwise italicised text when the poster wishes to emphasise a point via 'reverse italics'.

(Has anyone else been frustrated by the need for something like this?)

If this helps for now. Is it possible to use the underline or bold code for now? That is what I do when I need to emphasize something in external tags.

Example:

Thanks for responding.

I've always used bold or underline within [ ex ] code, but sometimes it just doesn't cut it. In fact yesterday I absent-mindedly added [ i ] code within an external quotation, only to see it had no effect.

An alternative work around might be for admin to allow [ i ] code within [ ex ] to produce normal text.

This is getting very nerdy...

LOL! No worries. You can do it. It's just a bit more work than bold, underline, or color. Technically you can COMPLETELY remove the italics if you wish. Just begin the external cite with the [ /i ] tag. Like you would close the italics in a regular post.

Example of regular external cite:

Look at my italics!

Example of removing italics from external cite:

Look, Ma! No Italics!

Then to have a non italicized and italicized mix, it would be like this:

Let's get funky with the italics in the external content box

Just hit quote to see how it's done.

Hmm. So you played your face card?

*gradually turns ace card*

I have to say "Well played". Problem is, where you need to emphasize several aspects of a longer quote it would just be more convenient to have a [ n ] code up your sleeve, especially if you want to highlight here & there as you go through a multi-paragraph extract you've just inserted.

I suspect only site admin have the Joker...

Or you could just take off the italics and only italicize what you want to emphasize.

Like so:

Italics removed by default but I will italicize what I want to emphasize. I also like to rhyme in my spare time.

Oh, and edit for clarity: What I'm saying is, the way I'm showing you is pretty much exactly what you'd have to do with the [ n ] tags. You'd still have to go back and forth between the [ n ] and closing it with [ /n ] or else you would be stuck with the rest of the cited content being in the same font. Hence, no emphasis.

What I'm doing with the [ i ] is exactly what you'd be doing with the [ n ] [ /n ].

Thanks for all your suggestions.

PS Is that a Texas twang to zazzafrazz' voice? Maybe you could provide an interpretation...

Well, for your sake. I hope you get your perfect 'n.' Which is, exactly what I'm doing with the 'i.'

Sassy boy.

Dear Madams & Sirs,

Is there any way that I can not see chemtrail threads?

I tend not to cope with them very well any more.

I tried just looking at one briefly the other day, but that didn't work either.....the next thing I knew I was back in there & then.....well things happened again.

I know they're there & I just have to look.

Kind regards
Maybe...maybe not

I have a suggestion -- and it's one I use when I find myself overimmersed in one conspiracy angle or another.

1) Go to your 'favorites', and delete the folders that contain your supportive data -- in your case, the Chemtrail/Contrail folders.

1a) sometimes it is cathartic to scream "Yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhghhhh" and wave your arms wildly right after hitting the delete button.

2) Step away from those threads for a while.

3) When the shiny scar of your angst is healed, and you are ready to wander in the dark place again, you can start amassing your info again, and, if you're like me, often find out something completely different and insightful in the process of researching. something that makes you go hmmmmmmmm.

4) Okay, I admit adult spirits can occasionally be a study tool.
