A Werewolf Problem in Central Russia

Just for a moment Sasha thought that the battered Zil would stop for him: it was so old and rattled so loudly, and was so obviously ready for the scrap heap, that it should have stopped--if only the law by which old people who have been have rude and inconsiderate all their lives suddenly become helpful and obliging shortly before they die had applied to the world of automobiles--but it didn't.

I don't know about an alien, but its pretty obvious, that its not a bigfoot.
That is, unless you believe in a bipedal, great ape that lives all around the world, is smart enough not to leave evidence anywhere, and evade capture by even the most sophisticated methods.
Its obvious that people have seen a large hairy bipedal creature everywhere for thousands of years, but to suggest an ape is the culprit? Cmon, how is that possible?
