Wow, i would first off, just thank everyone for the responses.

You never know what is going to happen to a thread on ATS.

So, Miley Cryus is Hanna Montana? or just plays on the Show? Its a Disney Show?

I thought that Hanna Montana was a 'pop' singer? I mean, i heard Hanna Montana before several times... I have heard her name mentioned on NFL broadcasts, and Hanna Montana was in a South Park Episode where Britnay Spears blew her head off...

My discription of the woman in the ad was " women, who looks like she just woke up in a bed after being raped. "
But could have been better said, "woman,... bed after a night of crazy mind blowing sex, and arose to no one there and was in a state of confustion."

She is not in a bikini. That, barly, is clothing.

This was a add with a disheveled girl, clutching to a sheet to cover her body....

What are we suposed to think?

That she got out of the shower and couldn't find a towel?

Now, the age of consent in the US, I Belive, is 18. Mabye some states differ, but on a national level, the legal age of consent, and the age where you can... well... you know, buy/look@/be in porn... and thats what this realy is, just realy low level porn... underage too, which is just what makes it (blank)ed up. The Girls Gone Wild ads are just anoying, this is just boarderline peverted... If that is the cover of Vaintiy Fair, i might vomit in the store if i see the cover...

And this girl is the daughter of a Country singer, the 'achy breaky heart' guy... there has to be more to that story...

Fossilied, I am sorry if my post offended you, or caused any harm to you or those around you. Just my reaction to what i was seeing...

Basicly, in short, I don't think we need to be objectfying women at a younger and younger age... because then we get things like this happening... and how long is it before we get worse, there was a story about a girl that was 12 years old that was stripping at a bar!

But my main question WAS, why do i have to see this crap on ATS... i mean, come on...

*********

Fossielded you posted again, heres my response.

Here one for the records. I posted a thread stating how offended I was calling a 15 year old a $#%^$%. It was called To All Women Of ATS. It was sent to what "skyfloater" called the Trash Bin Forum because he stated I used inappropriate language. It's Ok to call women WHORES here on this site I guess huh?

I am sorry, but you see, i thought this woman might of actuly been a whore/prostitute. I thought initianly, it may have been the woman that formor NY Gov. Elliott Spizer paid money for... i was mistaken, but fact this woman draping herslef in cloth was infact... well... May or not be Hanna Montana...

A Gentleman.

No, hes a male who has been brainwashed by the marxist feminists.

We men have always had that double standard haven't we, where we can go out get drunk, talk smak, burp, fart, go to bars with the morals of an alley cat, pick em up, pump em and dump em and what are we? Oh we are "studs", as we high five our homeboys our boyzzz our crew and we say YOU DA MAN! He's da Man!

Standard "double standard due to sexism rehetoric"

It isn't drugs or alcohol and it doesn't have to be their success that is this influence. Nope the influence is called men. Yeah you know, US you me us and we. Yeah we are the studs but what do we call them when they have their sexual needs met?

Sluts.

Whores.

Bitches.

Ho's
Standard womyns studies rant which both manages to demonise men and relieve women of any responsibillity for their own actions.

Yeah whats so ironic is it is usually when they are so infatuated with an older guy, they stare at the back of our neck while we play our video games for 5-6 hours. Woman are more inclined to think in terms they GIVE good sex but I doubt they are as critical as we are about it as it rarely occurs to us whether or not they GET good sex.

Standard "men are selfish in bed" rant.

We design shoes for them to show off their legs, so hard to walk in we'd break an ankle if we tried.

Blaming us for the choices women make in dressing. etc etc etc ad nasuem.
No hes no "real man" hes a man whose been poisoned, and intellectualy eunuched by feminist proaganda.
You two must be so proud.

A males conversely, is wrapped up in what he does.

For a guy with Darwin in his avatar, you dont seem to understand evolution much.

Suffice it to say the reason that men and women do differnt things to attract the opposite sex, is becasue the two sexes look for diffferent things.

Men on the otherhand, are the man and wear the man outfits play the man, act like that man etc.

Are you even on familiar terms with logic?
You complain that "women" (and only women of course :@@
dress up as "mistresses , nurses, and teachers, (female roles) yet the men are bad becasue they "dress like men" Would you prefer it if men dressed like women?

In more exotic scenarios where a guy might want to spice things up, they are most likely to ask HER to bring another woman into it. I know their are exceptions to the rule but woman are more conditioned to GIVE sex without much thought to whether they GET good sex.

If that helps explain

- Con

Yep, you a sexist of the self hating misandrist type.

lol i knew you would say that...

what i was trying to say basically that men throughout the centuries labeled women as sexual objects (a result) because they are treasured in society. they are subjugated because they dont live up to the perfect image that they should be and that frustrates guys (not as pure as we want them to be). and about the sex thing i meant that if women were really sexually liberated to the ultimate extent then there will not be an order of values as all will be lost to desires and such. men do follow their desires but women ground them and diminish it in exchange for something deeper. ya ok i dont make sense anymore.

Being a man and being WITH a man are two very different things/experiences. I can not speak on being a man. But I can speak on being with them.

So, I do have a say in it

But that is neither here nor there. I think I have come to my end of this debate

I've seen threads hijacked and go off topic before but this is an entirely different thing! I'm fairly sure everyone here wants to continue this conversation regardless of the fact that what's her name's ad was or wasn't overtly provocative or a new direction for her public 'persona'.

I read some of the posts since I lapsed in my participation and was a bit shocked that this became a debate on sexual expression within cultural norms.

I get that it is clear a person's (in this case apparently a girl's) sexuality is fully functional at the instant post-pubescence is complete. And I know that other nations and culture's clearly value a women's reproductive capabilities over her emotional maturity. I am aware that people in their teens are usually not willing to accept that their judgment on such issues is suspect (in their defense this is usually because us older folks have made world-class errors in judgment we 'project' onto younger people).

But how is this conversation taking form around evaluating the relationship that can exist between two people, regardless of their age? People, children included are not dropped out of a cookie cutter. The vilest and nastiest motivations can exist on either side, as can the deepest and most emotionally illuminating and constructive. To deny either possibility is unrealistic.

One can say that experience favors one or the other, but remember that each observation is only valid now. People, and the way we deal with each other, are always unpredictable and changing.

Well, for the record...the whole shoot was done by the uber-famous Annie Leibovitz. It might not have been the best choice for Miley, but her in a sheet and showing some of her (dare I say it) shoulder is fairly tame I think.

Kids have beds too.

If you want an example of bad sheet usage, I'd be way more angry at the KKK than I am over Miley holding a sheet.

Although I fully agree with your sentiments and I even jumped a guy's butt on BTS about a month ago for generalizing women as prostitutes, I'm lost as to why you are complaining to me as if I am supposed to do something about bringing your thread back. If it was totally deleted, I'm sure there was a reason for it.

Anyways...

No, really he is a gentleman. Well, at least he pretends to be on in public. All men are sex fiends but the good ones with manners know when to behave.

Ahh double standards. Gotta love em.
So Icant comment on the "age of consent" cause I've never been a 13 year old girl, (even though I dated many at that age) but when it comes to men, what they think, and what thier motivations are, you can speak becasue you've "been with some"
How telling. Lack of a uterus prohibits men from speaking on "womens issues" but the converse does not hold true.
Allmost as if you and others coming from the same perspective didnt actually believe in "equality"

I actually dont believe that men and woman are necessarily equal. There are some equal qualities yes. They deserve equal treatment, etc. But reality is, men are VERY different from women. We are not only built differently, but use diffent sides of our brain for various things. I could make a huge list on differences.

But I just did what I said I wouldnt do. I thought I was done. Maybe I should *warn* myself and take some points away

So its OK to state that all emn are sex fiends?
Hmm yet If I were to say, "All women are prostitutes" that would be offensive? No double standard here.

It inspired me to think that Hannah Montana just woke up in the morning.

I hear you though. I think Miley got talked into it for the sake of "art" and didn't think of the outcome.

Ok this thread was about an Ad, and its gone way of topic,

On the topic of the add, if you see it let us know, Right click it so we can get an idea which one it is and get a possible screen shot so we can go from that point,

To discuss this kind of topic I think it would be best for someone to start a thread over on social issues on BTS, that way the topic can be looked in to and conducted in a proper manner,
