OK. No offense, dude. But I do not think that those who are really suffering right now are drowning in 401-k's and mutual funds that are making them rich.

I think the average person, at this point, would be lucky to retire at all. Sure, you could say that is lack of planning on some. But people losing jobs and having to live on savings until something comes up may end up a little worse off when it comes down to it. They are probably not thanking this price-gouging of necessities for making the individuals themselves rich and able to retire.

This is no different. People making money off other's misery.

Capitalism was a great idea, but has proven an even greater failure. Much like Communism .. it's too easily corruptible.

It's not the 'ism' that's to blame. It's the notion that government can endure 'hidden agendas' without abuse. All that is required is oversight and transparency.

The minute these 'leaders' got into position the first thing they did was hide. Economic models had nothing to do with it. Whenever someone tries to 'get away' with something, you KNOW there is trouble brewing. With our leaders there have always been 'personal agendas' and 'favors to be repaid'. Guess what, we allowed them to tell us (the people) 'no peeking'..., this is what we get for trusting their 'sales pitch.'

What happens when a thread such as this talks about water and power world crisis?

I still ask questions about the 2003 blackout. It was back to the 'stone age' rather quickly with no power and no water (because of no power).

So once they start jacking up prices of water and power, while making billions in profit, what will people do then? Fight? How? People will be too hungry, thirsty, unable to drive anywhere, and unable to use any technology to help them.

I hope this never becomes a reality.

what's so wrong about businesses making profits... they Paid the lawmakers for the loopholes through their lobbyists & PACs...

i decided not to participate in the Y2K unnatural rise in all those defense industry stocks.. but any astute investor seen it coming....

this unreal food produces profits & the resulting rise in their stock prices
was also a-no-brainer... buy Con-Agra & Monsanto & Caterpiller farm equiptment 6 months ago & laugh all the way to the bank...

The food producers aren't holding back grains or food for a greater profit.
they are reaping big profits because the food commodities are desired & the USA dollar is being intentionally devalued in relation to other world currencies --? blame the Fed Reserve for these extreme profits by these food & oil multinationals.

NO, I choose to blame those whose mandate it is to protect us from the kind of profiteering that deprives American people of the pursuit of happiness. I know, call me a hippie.

Then what?

Well, if no one has any money but them, they could probably just buy America.

What do you mean 'they ' could 'probably' just buy America? They ALREADY ARE.

Americas REAL ASSETS are being bought by money that's being printed our of THIN AIR. This has been going on for quite some time now but its only a short matter of time before the real enemy takes literal ownership. I'm as just about 100 percent convinced that by the time people wake up to what the real enemy is it will be too late.

The only thing I can do is just laugh. Most people I talk to have no earthly idea what's about to happen to them. I'll keep banging the warning bell as much as I can but I fear it's not going to do much good. My solace is God is control and Jesus is my sanctuary. The aperture is closing and lots of people are not going to be ready.

Excellent point. He who controls money makes the rules he who controls the energy and food enforces those rules...heh I just made that up...makes sense though

I'm not a fan of Monsanto, but isn't America the beacon of capitalism?
Bill Gates was hammered with a monopoly fine a couple of years ago,why aren't other uber-conglomerates getting the same treatment???
Back scratching and pocket lining would be my guess.
The world has gone to hell in a hand basket, drifting up the proverbial creek without a paddle in sight.

if your really hippie... then you'd recall that Nixon, for a short time imposed price/wage controls...

is that what your referring to as "Those with a Mandate to Protect the masses from Profiteering?!??"

or do you mean SCOTUS, whose mission is to Judge the lawfullness of
profiteering & business practice ?

i thank the heavens we don't have a central planning/top down
group of overseers, whose job it is to 'Protect' the masses from profiteering corporations... that sounds so communistic/social democratic

Povetry will ultimately bring their demise; not ours. People as poor as they may be always find a way to fight and africa is a classic example.

You see people half-naked carrying ak-47s and rpg's. Hordes of skeleton kids barely 10 years old riding on a pickup. Bra-less women waiting to feed whoever is lucky enough to return............

These people don't care anymore if they die because they've been eating misery day-in and day-out for decades. In fact dying in battle is much preferrable than dying of hunger.

The west has been having it well for a long time and really doesn't know anything about 'survival of the fittest'...kill your neighbor for a loaf of bread. Off course corruption, illiterracy and poor infrastructure are to blame but if the economy continues going down we might all get a taste of it.

HA MOSANTO HAHAHAHAHAHA....

Ok Mosanto is the most corrupt and destructive agricultural organization. They have employees in Congress and the House of Representatives. It's been rumored that they also worked with the last 6 presidents as well.

Sigh... what can we do... what can we DO?

Monsanto as far as I learned, invented only crap to poison us.

They invented PCB`S, an additive that when mixed with oil used in power transformers, increased it`s voltage insulating capacity...

The downside:

Currently available scientific evidence demonstrates that exposure to PCBs can cause cancer in experimental animals. However, the available epidemiological evidence has not demonstrated an association between exposure to PCBs and the incidence of disease in the human population. Taken together, this information does raise concerns regarding the potential for PCBs to cause cancer in the human population. The resulting consensus among scientific experts is that PCBs are classified as probable human carcinogens.

Link

They invented Aspartame, the zero calorie sweetener...

The downside:

(WebMD) A study of rats links low doses of aspartame -- the sweetener in NutraSweet, Equal, and thousands of consumer products -- to leukemia and lymphoma.

Link

Drum Roll Please !!!!!!!!!

And now they are screwing up in plant and food DNA....

How in the world can this be tolerated ??????????

Something is VERY WRONG HERE...

Nah, I'm no hippie (I don't think they'd have me), just trying to turn a phrase.

But you responded to the sentiment just as those in the 60's did, equating it to the dark specter of control and communism. It is actually a question of social conscience. Commerce does not HAVE to be socially destructive, nor does wealth have to be an all or nothing factor in our lives. The mandate to which I refer is part of that G-Damned piece of paper the President referred to, the hateful Bill of Rights. I don't care how much profit can be made by a company, what matters is this: Is a 'company' empowered by it's nature to increase its profit by manipulating human suffering to achieve it?

Because individual citizens, unless I am mistaken, are not. What makes the difference?

That's my main problem. People aren't allowed to kill people, so why are corporations like Monsanto? Yes, it may be indirect, but it's premeditated and deliberate. There have already been posts about PCB's, aspartame, etc. so I don't think I need to explain this further. If regulating a murderous corporation is communistic, then paint be red and call me comrade!

I believe very sincerely that Monsanto and their cabal of corporatists want to control the global food supply. Greed is horrible thing that causes people to lose respect for human life, and it's perfectly evident by the actions of these corporations.

the days of soviet era were great
USA is the reason of the ruin of the world

Evertything we are seeing now in the US, are the things we used to laugh at the Soviets for and said that we would never tolerate.

The problem is not the US or the former Soviet. The problem is the maters behind the scenes that have used and manipulated both systems, and all peoples to their own greedy ends.

What caused the collapse of the Soviet Union was greed and corruption at the cost of their own ideology. And why are we about to witness the fall of the United States? The same reasons.

In my opinion, the only sustainable system would be the capitalist society rooted in social values. In other words, the people at the bottom are maintained through socialism, to a minumum but sufficent standard of living. If you want more than that? You must buy into and compete in the capitalist system. If you are at the bottom, you will have the basics to get by and even enjoy life just a little. But if you want the designer clothes, fancey jewelry, big cars, boats, year-long vacations, you're going to have to compete, and you will have to pay to compete.

I'd really just like to know what they are going to do with all the money after they have it....ALL!!

The same thing Darth Vader was going to do with his new Empire (once he disposed of Darth Sidious of course). Make things how he wanted them to be.

Keep in mind that money is only and end to a means. It is not so much the money itself that they are after. It is the power that they can buy with it.

They won't be happy until the human population is reduced to a half-billion. Figure maybe a million of so elites, and the rest are slaves that are utterly powerless to challenge their absolute authority.

I totally believe in that theory now...I always used to second guess it thinking would they really be that inhumane but when I look at it more and more and see the crap going down I sometimes wonder. I know its far fetched killing all but 500 million but I dont know when you see what they are doing to the food, money, and energy it makes you wonder..

No offense, but people like me are starving because of people like you. I nver had a portfolio of any kind, much less diversified with mutual funds. So no, I certainly am not one of the one profiting here. I am one of the ones going hungry. And you know what, when people like me start getting hungry enough, we're going to start eating people like you.

And that's sad really, because the real culprits will be safe and untouched somewhere. The people who set up this whole system that was doomed to fail from the start. And people like you fell for it. Don't feel bad, almost everyone did. In fact, most people still don't even realize it yet.

This 47-minute video will help you realize...

Money as Debt

Here is a thread that I started some time ago debating the video...
