Four high school students are being investigated on suspicion of breaking into the Fort Bend Independent School District's computer network and changing the grades of at least 60 students, according to court documents and school officials.

Investigators estimated the financial loss to the school district at more than $190,000, making the case a possible felony.

This is the suburbs in the Houston, Tx area.

I think the school district should be shamed and hanging its head. You can better it was no amazing feat to get entry into the network. I suspect a shoddy contractor's work and poor management. 190K in damages?

I don't condone what was done by the students but I think the school district is inflating their side to save face. They need to improve their security routine.

I am tired of so many people wanting to break into or damage computers on networks or create viruses, etc. Wonder what punishment will be handed out.

Which is a harder task, studying or finding a way to break in to the system? I know which would be more fun to a kid.
