Ex Commando held on eve of book release

www.theglobeandmail.com

MONTREAL — A Quebec City man has been arrested on sex charges just before he was to launch a book stating that, as a former member of Canada's anti-terrorist unit, he took part in an operation in Afghanistan well before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Mr. Morisset already has a criminal record for sexual assault on a minor and possession of juvenile porn.

He said DND will review the book to ensure no person or operation is compromised, but would not comment further.

Interesting article.

A former Canadian SF member gets himself arrested the day before the launch of his book about our SF unit.

He's claiming that he is being set up.

Hopefully this gets published. I'd really like to read this.

Starred and Flagged! Good stuff!

It does indeed sound like "suspicious timing" in relation to his "charges"...Sounds like an attempt at character assassination to discredit him---Status quo gov disinfo 101!

Look for the "despondent suicide" with accompanying "note" next!

He actually mentions suicide in the article but not in that context.

It does seem suspicious but on the other hand, he does have a criminal record for these type of offences.

I'll be keeping an eye out to see when these supposed crimes actually occurred and whether they waited to arrest him or not.

The book has some interesting stories, one is about how JTF2 was used during a bank robbery to kill the hostage takers. Used it as a "training mission".

Also talks about one of his comrades getting shot in the head in Rwanda and it being covered up.

Given the secrecy that surrounds the NZSAS former role in Afghanistan the book is some what unusual. In fact had it not been for the awarding of the Victoria Cross the veil of secrecy would have not been lifted at all. Besides if operational security was at risk there would be legal action to stop the publication of the book .
