5/01/08 A high-level Iraqi delegation was in Iran on May 1 for talks aimed at curtailing Tehran’s support for Sh’ia militias operating in Iraq. The Iraqi government is stepping in to curtail the Iranian backed insrugency in Iraq. This is an interesting devolopment considering the recent carrier group deployment to the gulf and the halt in troop withrdrawls from Iraq. (On top of an increased US presence fairly close to Iran in Afghanistan), and Israel's drills in the past few months.

I can't help but wonder if this was a legitimate action on the part of the Iraqi government or was it a move engineered by the US as "fuel for the fire" in the media's escalating barrage against Iran.
