Abstract

The following Egyptian building materials and monuments have been investigated with regard to mineralogy, radioactivity content and luminescence dating: (1) Sphinx Temple, (2) Osirion Shaft, (3) Valley Temple, (4) Khufu (hereafter Cheops), Khefren or Chephren and Menkaure or Mykerinus pyramids at Giza, (5) Osirion at Abydos, (6) Temple of Seti I at Abydos, and (7) Qasr el-Sagha at Fayum. They derive from three distinct areas, Giza (Nile Delta), Abydos and Fayum.


Interesting stuff if a bit hard to read for non-native English speakers, and for native speakers have a scientific (on-line) dictionary available.

Since you are interested in the pyramids, have you looked into the Bent or the Red Pyramids in Dashur also part of the Fayum, just outside Giza,

I visited them but could only go a short distance into the Red because of damage, the Bent was entrance was covered over at the time by Debree from collapse a long time ago.

In the Red pyramid there are still builder marks as to where they placed the building beams etc. There were no hyroglyphs on the walls as if it was never finished, looking out from a distance its an awsome site to behold, so red.

The Bent pyramid was destined to fail from the start from the angle of their construction so they stopped midway in the construction or another story goes they ran out of building blocks from a certain quarry so they recalculated to complete it making it look rather pecular in shape, who really knows.

There is a book "The forbidden Egyptology" by Erdogan Ercivan (a german egyptologist), which you may find very interesting. Not all of the information and discoveries regarding the piramids are made publicly known. The reasons are convincing.
