Since you are interested in the pyramids, have you looked into the Bent or the Red Pyramids in Dashur also part of the Fayum, just outside Giza,
I visited them but could only go a short distance into the Red because of damage, the Bent was entrance was covered over at the time by Debree from

In the Red pyramid there are still builder marks as to where they placed the building beams etc. There were no hyroglyphs on the walls as if it was
never finished, looking out from a distance its an awsome site to behold, so red.
The Bent pyramid was destined to fail from the start from the angle of their construction so they stopped midway in the construction or another story
goes they ran out of building blocks from a certain quarry so they recalculated to complete it making it look rather pecular in shape, who really
knows.
