You'd be surprised how fast people tend to forget the past. Not many people remember the UN's predecessor -- League of Nations.

Realistically, you have to give a presidential term 50+ years to even begin to rate his presidency. Contemporary historians and chroniclers have too
many emotions tied into their beliefs either pro or con against a political person.
This is why there needs to be at least one generation away from the person being historically placed to even begin to have a serious study of the
his/her work.
You can see the beliefs both pro and con with the small sampling of this thread.
With this all said, I believe he will go down as an average president. Above Carter and Clinton, far below his father.
Only in the last year of his 8th year has the economy turned down. The "war" has turned into a politician's buffet of policy disputes lead by the
demoncrats and helped along by Republicans who have aspirations of higher office.
America has had no further terrorist attacks, so we are safe on the home front. Katrina will be a larger footnote than Iraq. Seriously, we let our own
people die and suffer instead of helping them. In truly historical terms for Iraq, the death toll of US soldiers is less than a few days of WW2 or
even less than 1/10th of the 3 year Korea war or +10 years in Vietnam. Only this occurrence in our times has distorted the view that it is a big
deal.
Keeping the stupid and political based comments out of the argument, he's just an average president.

If the elite and the media writes the history then yes he will be. If I could write his history then his faults would outweigh his his tax cuts and
anything else.

If our history books reflect GWB as a great leader.. Then we need to burn those books.

what Bush will go down in history as will not be a great president. He will go down in history as the worst enemy the constitution has ever had but
only the worst.Pelosi and Reed as well as most members of congress and the supreme court will join him. When americans wakeup and start dusting of the
rope for treasonious politicans maybe this country will straighten out and become great again.
