I haven't seen this report before and since it just got posted on Youtube figured I would share it as I found it very interesting (Sorry if posted before). I am amazed at how believable the farm owner is, especially in the follow up interview at the end.

If he was acting he should have gotten an oscar, that bitterness was palpable.

Good find! Never saw that one before, nor did I think that anyone as reputable as Walter Cronkite ever did such a straight-faced story on the subject back then.

Hiyah Shere Khaan....

Great name by the way:

Great old footage thanks for posting it, I remember this same farmer in the Jose Escamillo film UFO Greatest Story Ever Denied...

I felt sorry for the poor guy, just a simple guy telling what he saw is all...I'm amazed it made it on a major network actually.

Thank you

It is amazing how personal the reaction to him saying how he saw a UFO; he seems really decent and lucid.

Yeah..I think this is the incident that branded Hynek and Ufology with the derisive and unfortunate "Swamp Gas" tag ..something neither has been able to quite shake off to date

I think that program used to air on Sunday mornings.
Great find.

Here's something about this incident

Gerald R. Ford asks for Inquiry into UFO's (1966)

Article #: 8
From: UFO INFO SERVICE
Date Sent: 06-17-1986
Subject: 1966 FORD TO ASK INQUIRY

SOURCE: NYT (WASHINGTON, DC)
DATE: 26 MARCH 1966

FORD TO ASK INQUIRY

House Republican Leader Gerald R. Ford announced yesterday he would ask the
chairmen of the House Armed Services Committee and the Science and Astronautics
Committee to consider a "full blown" investigation of unidentified flying
objects. Several hundred persons have reported seeing mysterious lights in Mr.
Ford's home state of Michigan this week. No Congressional leader has called
for such an investigation before. Mr. Ford said he was in Michigan Thursday
night and yesterday morning "and I can assure you there is interest and I
suspect public concern" over the sightings. If swamp gas caused the lights,
Mr. Ford said, USAF should have no hesitancy in explaining that to a committee.
