Congress Set to Import More Foreign Workers

Now that big corporate lobbyists know they can't get amnesty for the millions of cheap laborers they have imported illegally, they are pushing to increase the number of so-called high-skilled workers by raising the cap of H-1B visas. The pressure is on the House of Representatives to pass an increase soon, most likely in the form of the SKIL Act (H.R. 1930), sponsored by Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ), usually a conservative ally.

Meanwhile, U.S. engineers and computer techies are available to fill the positions. A major study made by the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University found that there is no shortage of U.S. engineers. Eighty percent of respondents to a Pratt survey say U.S. engineering jobs are filled within 4 months, and 88 percent didn't offer signing bonuses.

The Real Problem with OutSourcing

Immigration attorneys from Cohen & Grigsby explains how they assist employers in running classified ads with the goal of NOT finding any qualified applicants, and the steps they go through to disqualify even the most qualified Americans in order to secure green cards for H-1b workers. See what Bush and Congress really mean by a "shortage of skilled U.S. workers." Microsoft, Oracle, Hewlett-Packard, and thousands of other companies are running fake ads in Sunday newspapers across the country each week

Now they are importing workers to take away from OUR jobs. There is seriously something wrong with this picture. The picture is painted in greed by the investor. Why hire someone local when the same position can be outsourced for less?

Yes, Selling America off to the lowest bidder in this case. And Congress is complicit. How much of America will Congress sell off before it's actually a crime?

I believe part of the problem is that the corporations don't consider them our jobs. Isn't this just another part of the allure of a 'global' free market. There is always cheaper labor our there, be it skilled or otherwise. It's about their return on investment - not the employee .... and people wonder why unions are necessary.

Corporations have lobbyists..., we have ..., politicians.

Guess who is gonna win.

Globalization is turning out for Americans as a double edged sword for companies and for the US workers. We've been outsourcing US jobs to India and China to save money and make profits. VERY soon within the next 5 to 10 years they will stop outsourcing to China and India and will start outsourcing work to countries like Taiwan or Maylasia if they find the same quality at even more lower prices! The Indians and Chinese workers would cry just like Americans. And the cycle will go and go and go.....

Kiss your jobs goodbye. They wont coming back.
