Air Force One Guidance Systems Allegedly Sent to Russia

abcnews.go.com

State Department investigators found that a subsidiary of a major defense contractor provided portions of the computer source code of Air Force One to a company in Russia in 1998, according to a little-noticed consent agreement reached earlier this month.

The documents, filed by the State Department, noted that the alleged violation by a subsidiary of defense contractor Northrop Grumman "resulted in harm to the U.S. national security."

Northrup Grumman to Pay $15M for Alleged 1998 Export of Navigation System Code

In addition, the documents filed by the State Department say that between 1994 and 2003, the firms failed to notify the State Department about the computer guidance systems also being transferred to Angola, Indonesia, Israel, China, Ukraine and Yemen.

Smooth move. This leaves me wondering what other
sensitive information has been "provided" or "transferred"
to other states that we don't exactly consider allies.

From the article, I can't discern whether the information
was "sold" to those states, or if it was simply "transferred".
Would the $15M fine be less than what they made?

What do ya'll make of this?

Yeah, that's actually old news. Clinton's administration signed affidavids that removed export controls on sensitive technologies.

Laural and Hughs Space Corp and Northrup were major contributors to 1996 Clinton campaign. In return for their support, Clinton had the export controls moved from the State Department fot the Justice Department. He could get away with removing the controls at the Justice Dept., allowing Northrup to sell the technology.

Laural and Hughs sold China missle guidance, satellite encryption and jamming technologies.

The state dept. later filed 123 counts of sensitive tech transfers by the Clinton admin through Laural to China. This is just one type of incident. There were others.
