Chinese paramilitary police went after protestors in San Francisco

City officials were told the attendants were needed to carry the keys to turn the torches on and off as the flame was passed from runner to runner.

"We thought they were talking about some youth or civic volunteer group - then we found out they were actually ninja-style paramilitary police," said one City Hall source who was in on the talks, but asked not to be named because of the diplomatic sensitivity over the dustup.

This is just another example of how brutaly represive the ChiCom goverment is and how nothing will stop thier "comming out party" While they are doing things in Tibet that would make the most hardened Nazi puke, they are also bring thier style of protest squashing to the world it seems :shk:

Chances are people wouldn't have noticed the attendants had not Majora Carter, one of the torchbearers, pulled a Tibetan flag out during her

If this had been in China, she would have gotten a bullet in the back of her head if she was lucky.

Then came the disrupted torch run through Istanbul and a photo of at least one of the attendants in a blue-and-white jogging outfit not just protecting the torch, but going after someone in the

I think that the awarding of the brutaly repressive Chinese goverment the Olympics is a bigger travesty than allowing Hitler to host them in Berlin

Chinese torch guards are 'thugs' says British Olympic chief

Sebastian Coe, the chairman of the London Olympic Committee, has described the Chinese officials guarding the Olympic torch as "thugs", piling more embarrassment onto the Games' organisers.

Lord Coe was overheard talking about the attendants, who formed part of a huge security presence around the flame, during a private telephone conversation with a member of his press team.

Japan bans tracksuited Chinese torch guards

The "thug" Chinese security guards who have accompanied the Olympic torch on its route through London, Paris and San Fransisco, will not be allowed to make a repeat performance in Japan.

Matters of security on Japanese soil will be handled by the domestic police alone, and that principle will not be compromised just because it is the Olympics, said the Chairman of the National Public Safety Commission in Tokyo.

“I do not personally accept the idea that they will run in Japan as they ran in other countries,” said Shinya Izumi, who was discussing arrangements for the Nagano leg of the torch relay later this month.

Australia also banned them.

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, visiting London for talks with his British counterpart Gordon Brown before leaving for Beijing, said China would not be permitted to have its own tracksuit-clad security detachment for the torch in Australia.

Thugs indeed.

Same thing happened in London.

Sad thing is, our Police LISTENED to them, acted for them on what ever orders.

Not only that, but these 'thugs' were infact seen outside our prime-minister's residence, showing that they possess more command initiative than our own leader.

way to go, Gordo.
