NAIROBI, Kenya - President Mwai Kibaki named rival Raila Odinga as prime minister Sunday, implementing a power-sharing deal after protracted negotiations over the agreement they signed more than a month ago.

The two leaders had agreed to share power after weeks of deadly violence following the country's disputed presidential election in December left more than 1,000 people dead and around 300,000 displaced.

Well its about time. I swear.

What is it about these small nation despots anyway?

They all seem to be the worst things that could happen to their countries.

I know Kenya is a "democracy" but still... is the African gravy train so rich that once these guys get power they never want to let go?

Well it is good news for sure... I am just commenting on how long it took them to implement something they had already agreed to.
