a sighting in mississippi?

ok while i was waiting to see a japaneese named comet one night i saw something completely different than my uncle that lived 5 miles down the road what i saw was a bright red objecy flying through the sky so fast it was on fire and it looked like it was cutting the earth in half. I ve looked in many books trying to explain but nothing helped. Could anyone help explain?

Possibly a meteorite ?

That's fascinating - I would love to have a better description...
*how big was it?
*What direction was it going(falling?)
*How high up? (couldn't have been too high if your uncle who was 5 miles away and watching the skies did not see it)
*How fast was it going?
*Describe the "fire" (any colors other than red?, trailing, debris? etc)
* any sounds associated with sighting?
* if any animals were in the area, (dogs, horses, etc) did they appear disturbed?

Well, it was probaly that comet you were waiting to see.
I dont think ufos are like this when they fly around.

Yeah, maybe if you could give a little more detail on your account than we could better judge just exactly what you saw.
