Mass Deportations coming for Jailed Illegal Immigrants

www.chron.com

The U.S. Homeland Security department has launched an ambitious nationwide effort that would cost $2 billion to $3 billion a year to identify and deport the estimated 300,000 to 450,000 illegal immigrants locked up each year in jails and prisons.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation was denounced by immigrant rights groups and received cautiously by those favoring tighter enforcement

Now THIS is something I can applaud our gov over, if it does indeed go through...No telling how many billions of dollars these illegal immigrants are costing us annually by feeding and housing them in our jails and prisons...This should be a universal theme---If you come to another country illegally and commit crimes, you shoud have your a** deported right back to where you came--People should not have to pay for your stay in their jails.

''We can do something few law enforcement agencies can do: Not only ensure criminals are off the streets, but ensure they are removed from the country," said ICE spokesman Tim Counts. ''Removing hundreds of thousands of criminals from the country is sure to have a positive impact on community safety."

it will save money too, because the US government also wants to release low risk offenders as well.

The article has disappeared.

It's about time illegal's get deported on a large scale. Hopefully we'll be able to deport them at a fast enough pace that ICE doesn't get bogged down and backed up.

I bet you are correct. That is a fairly absurd cost. Realistically, as mentioned earlier, this should save tax payers money if done correctly. They should also release many of the non violent offenders as well. That would put a dent in their profits though.

Finally!! Unfortunately, it's probably more talk than action. We'll see.

And Karl... you know they don't give a crap if they "...save tax payers money..." They aren't saving us anything. It'll just get spent on some pork barrel project to study the effects of marijuana on pigs

It doesn't matter how fast they are deported as long as the border is left uncontested and they bounce right back into the country.

A plan like this will only work if border security is dealt with first and foremost. If this plan is set into motion too soon, we will just end up paying for the same illegals to be deported over and over again and will end up spending more money as taxpayers than we are now (keeping them in jail).

I'm all for the theory behind this plan, I just believe that the current flow of illegals into the country must be eradicated before we can afford to turn our focus towards eliminating those already here.

I completely agree with you. I think its about time these illegal criminals are sent back home.

However, the problem is....they can and more then likely will just come right back.

Just a big vicious circle. They need to fix the border and fix the legal immigration problem.

If they committed felonies here, then they should serve out their time before being deported. If you let them go home, they will be unpunished, and will just return to America to terrorize innocent law abiding citizens again.

Same thought I had you deport them without them serving there time and without the fence. You basicly send a murder to Mexico so he can comeback next month. And I could see a real problem with revenge killings he turned me in last month for murder and they deported me now im back to kill you.

Thanks!

I might think about things a little simpler than the government does, but to me, immigration reform should involve a 2-step process:

1. Build a fence and enforce it as a boundary.
2. Kick out everyone that's not supposed to be here.

The prisoners with felonies should serve their time, then go back to their home country. They aren't the kind of immigrants we are looking for. If they don't have enough respect for our laws BEFORE they are citizens, imagine the contempt they would have if they were.

The misdeamenor prisoners (in for a few days for public intoxication etc.) should just get a ride home (deported) for being stupid. No need in bogging down the system for low level offenders who aren't taxpayers. Once again, if you're already getting yourself arrested before your a citizen, that's not the intelligence level that should qualify for citizenship IMO.

It would seem as if we need a psychic to tell us who we actually have and should keep in prison. Many may be allowing themselves to get caught for a free trip home. In some ways, the US represents a win-win situation as tempting as a casino slot machine that always pays out.

This country has been lax for so long by allowing these cross exploitations to continue and now apparently can't afford to stop it. You can't possibly think we can just throw thousands or a million of these people out of the country. Tightening the rules and laws seems to have a slowing or reversing affect in certain areas though.

Now that economy is faltering and jobs getting more scarce, many are supposedly going back home or leaving the area. Many are probably going to enjoy their nestegg they've sent home while we're broke and deeper in debt.

Following that logic, why don't we revoke the citizenship of all those in lock up, send them back with the Mexicans and save even more money. Also perhaps we should give IQ test that prove the intelligence of people that aren't in jail YET and if they fail, send them back with the Mexicans too. Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

How DARE you applaud this... sending these criminals be it Mexican or not, to Mexico and other countries because they are illegal... ONLY SETS THEM FREE!!??!??!?

Within 6 months they will be across the border, free as they where before they where arrested.

I say the death penalty for all non-national violent criminals and lock the rest up for life. The tax payer can burden the payment of these scum to prevent them from roaming the streets of America again..

Applaud them..
Just setting these bastards free...

Mass Deportations...Here we come, the 4th Reich is almost here! Get ready people, next we'll start jailing gays, and jews, black people, muslims, dissenters, and other thinkers. Then killing them, then someone, somewhere, will destroy us.

As many times as I hear how wrong it would be, I'd like to throw this one out there. Instead of worrying about deporting them, why doesn't America just put on the law books that "if you are jailed at all for any violent crime INSIDE America AND you are an ILLEGAL (undocumented, alien, political correctness makes me cranky), you will immediately be put to death"?

Think about the problems that would solve. No more cost of housing people that didn't properly enter the United States. I bet the offenders' families would be quick to go back to their country OR get themselves properly documented. Violent crime would probably go down overall.

America needs to quit pussyfooting around political correctness and start doing what common sense dictates. Sanctuary cities are the first that should go. At least hit them in the pocket book by withholding federal funding.

I'm sick of the hit ILLEGAL ALIENS put in my pocket book. I'm taxed to death already and I damn sure don't want to pay for other citizen's healthcare, let alone someone who doesn't belong here legally and thus aren't taxed themselves. Wake up people. Give us your poor, tired, hungry, NOT give us your freeloaders, criminals, and dead-beats.

Please note, I'm all for immigrants who go through the process properly of becoming citizens. I don't see them waving around their countries of origins' flags in America every day. That is because these people truly want to be known as Americans. As far as I'm concerned, if you don't want to wave around the stars and stripes and you are here, go to the country you think is so much better.

Before you call me racist (which is the typical response of people who have a viewpoint opposing the one I have), keep this in mind.

I am Cree Indian.
My best friend is an American originally from Mexico who immigrated here LEGALLY and works with me at a major employer in Iowa.
My stepfather is the son of German immigrants who became Americans LEGALLY.
I'm not white and it probably confuses the heck out of you how I can possibly have this viewpoint.

And, finally, don't give me the "what about the evil white people who took over your land?" line of bull. Thats history. THAT didn't happen to me, it happened to my ancestors. I'm not angry about that. I bought land fair and square like everyone else. The only threat to my land these days is a law called "Eminent Domain", but, it affects landowners of all colors.

Lets build the fence. Lets chuck illegals over it until they are all gone. Lets open the gate and let them stand in line in the process to BECOME AMERICAN if they so desire. If they jump the fence, shoot them. Its not fascist to be given rules to live by. How many illegals do you think we'd have if the rules were actually enforced?

Compare the US to Nazi Germany? Get real. America is going through a rough patch right now because common sense is being pushed aside for "tolerance" where the "tolerance" is undeserved. If anything, we'll be destroyed from the inside by those who choose to "tolerate" the wrong people. Keep our rights to bear arms and I think the US will be okay from outside invaders (that, and nukes are a pretty good deterrent!)
