Don't listen to most of these fools who are trying to convince you to seek professional help. This will lead to medications and a mark on your record when this feeling is perfectly normal.

This is something that many extremely spiritual and mystics go through, its a realization that the world and things of this world are empty and devoid of the fulfillment that comes from being spiritually alive and having spiritual realizations.

Those dont go through this early on is becasue they've been sidetracked by all the flashy things of this world, i.e. video games, porn/lust/sex, money, fame, hobbies, materialism, and so forth. It happened to me to.

So dont discourage, just find the strength to keep on going and realize that we are not here that long at all, it just seems that way. Then when you do have spiritual realizations, you can make the best of the matter because you yourself will be freed from these feelings knowing that your true home and citizenship is with the Spiritual realms and the one who created it all.

I'm with you 100% as I've gone through this for years only to slowly crawl out, but going through that made a better person and gave me strength to fight off fake temptations and see through all the garbage thats out there.

Your young and those are the tough times! Im a Junior in H.S. and I can tell you my first 1.5 years of high school were terrible. I had no friends. I later started meeting people who actually cared about me. Many teenagers judge you by how you look, what you wear and who you talk to. Ive never been popular and probably never will. Its ok though, why? Because I finally found my place among society and dont care what anybody thinks. We are all unique in 1 way or another. If you want to talk, just let me know

Just do something with your life.
Arts and craft, tae bo, walk around the globe, hell, even run off to Chinia and learn sholin kung fu, have adventures, whatever.

Just do something to change your life.

I know I doing that right now, going to school and going the gym so I could help out in conflict zones by the end of the year.

Its interesting how everyone is chiming in with suggestions to change or seek help or take this and do that.

But what if his response is the only true, authentic and appropriate response to this world?

In other words, whats "wrong" with feeling bad/low in the face of a crappy, stupid, insignificant, dirty, boring world?

Maybe its not the OP who needs help, maybe its you guys.

In fact, admitting that one feels low because this world is so damn idiotic and that it is an entirely valid and healthy response...might incite anger. And that anger might be channelled into productive streams of helping to make things better. And once he helps to make things better he will be feeling so much better.

I dont know if thats very appropriate from anybody especially a moderator... wow.....

I understand your point but what if this guy is suicidal? those kind of thoughts I think should be kept to ourself or only told when someone is positive.
Or maybe Im being too sensitive.

It might help to know that Im not posting AS a moderator here but AS a member. Check this out:

Moderators are people too (and have opinions)

It might also be helpful to note that if you think my last post promotes suicide, youve misread it. Far from it. It promotes being honest about one´s feelings rather than telling someone who sees the truth of something that he is abnormal. I am saying that he might be more normal than many believe.

Dude, noboby said anything about sugarcoating it.
It's all about making lemonade when the world throws you lemons. It's also about attitude first and foremost. Nobody said anything about life being easy, because it isn't.
Yeah it's a tough world, but nobody has any right to dictate how anyone else should live or feel, but if they even try you need to be ready to say "Screw you pal, and the horse you rode in on !", nothing more, nothing less.
This is because EVERYBODY is good at something, which means everybody has something to offer something, it doesn't matter what it is or how significant it is, everybody can affect the world in one way or another.
Sure not everyone can be a leader, but I can guarantee you that all people are followers of something, this includes the aformentioned leaders when they are not busy leading.

That's what life is all about!

Too True- I agree.

EVERYONE gets into these lows sometimes. Sometimes, though, it is more serious. I have lived a great percentage of my life feeling like the OP. I have a lot of health problems, but now I fill my healthy moments with whatever makes me feel good. I hang in there because there are people who love me and need me. I need medications, but that is not always what a person needs to help themself. It is a very personal decision. Maybe you just need to talk to someone who wont judge you and get it all out.

Its normal to have bad times, but they usually pass after a week or so. If you are still feeling bad now you could go to a doctor and discuss possible treatment. It may be medicines or it may not be. No one will force them on you. Here's how I see it: If you have a physical illness no one is going to tell you "no, dont go to the doctors they will give you pills!" Yet people will do just that when someone may be very close to death (via suicide) because it is a possible mental health issue. It doesnt make sense!

Please dont just let it go on without telling someone, whatever you decide. I am sure that you can get through this. You can alway just see your regular Dr and tell him/her about your feelings. You know, sometimes it is a physical problem. You cant lose by doing it. I hope you are feeling better now or SOON!

You dont need all these people to tell you what to do.
Sure you could go out with a goal get a job earn some cash then die eventually but thats way too boring.
Everyone is a buyer and a seller, thats all...
Sublime said your going to miss a few interesting things that are to come in the future so grab a beer sit back and chill, watch the world go on in its stupid way of "life"
I doubt your gonna read all these posts so ill stop right now.

Im not a shrink nor social worker....

I don't want to seem insensitive but the OP has made an excellent topic to discuss..

The only thing Im concerned about is the end bit about killing ones self ( i do rather hope this was a shock tactic into getting people to respond)

I will start by saying our life in our early years goes way to fast...we have to make important descions at quite young age's about what role we will play in society... for example choosing jobs.

I have recenlty turned 26 and only now do i know what i would like to have done and what job i really would have found intresting...Astrophysics.

Now i made some descions early in life i have a mortgage i have a child of 2 and one due in august and i wouldn't change a single thing about them... However the descions I made have made me let's say fall in line with everyone else.

I may in the future be able to attend a degree course (if i won the lottery and was able to support wife and two kids)

what i want to say is your still young and you have joined the greatest forum in the world for advice and and for cultural intergration and for knowledge....

Please please dont write yourself off you are my/our the worlds future (not just you but all young people) Listen to the advice ask for advice ask for help but for goodness sake you really don't realise how precious your life is....

I often sit and think about how i'd like to have been born 2000 years from now or maybe even 500 years from now but i haven't been i have been born now like many others to help build this future for our future generations and we must....

you can't change the world but hell you can change a little bit of it....and damn it you have the right hell you have the duty to make these changes.

You will be pivotel in every descion you make ignore the nay sayers and the pesimists your votes your descions all count.

You may not believe you have the overall control of your destiny or your future but the only person in control of you is you...LISTEN TO ME

Pick yourself up of the floor dust yourself down stand up and be counted.

You have already contributed to the world with this post you have united so many of us ATS members in trying to help you...

Have you ever seen the film pay it forward?

I recomend you watch it...It might help.

And to all you ATS members when the chips are down i would like to think we as a collective are going to be pretty damn good at helping pick them up.

Everyone in there life will go through a time when they wish they weren't here living and breathing we must help each other fight and stand up for the greater concerns!

Therapy is a good thing for people but you know i can remember times when i have felt like this and i didn't need therapy!

The world can look a dark place and we may not think we are changing it but in our own way we are...there are a lot of ATSers around and collectively we are getting stronger...Yes i have seen teething problems recently but that is all they are....

Now is the time to start standing together no more disrespect no more making people feel inadequate in life and on here and you watch your world and our world change..

And OP

I am right here along with many other members of ATS to help you pick yourself up....Give yourself a chance hell you might even start to enjoy it...

Peace to you all.....

Your not the only one concerned- it is hard to tell if you get through to someone on a message board. I am going to be positive and think that we at least gave him/her some stuff to think about and a chance to blow off some steam. I know I have Googled " I want to die" before, just to find something to read to take my mind off my misery at that moment, and I am still here. Everyone has these thoughts- it's not a minor issue to blow off, mind you, but pain is part of being alive. It's healthy to question your existence and the point of it all even if that scares the H out of everyone around you.
