F. William Engdahl gives his view on international politics:

Global Warming gets the Cold Freeze
Global warming hoax exposed by record global cold

by F. William Engdahl

The media and governmental hype over a danger from global warming that already is allegedly causing the polar icecaps to melt and threaten a global climate catastrophe, looks more and more like the political hype it is. This year to date, snow cover over North America and much of Siberia, Mongolia and China is greater than at any time since 1966.

According to the US National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) many American cities and towns have suffered record cold temperatures in January and early February. According to the NCDC, the average temperature in January "was - 0.3 F cooler than the 1901-2000 average."

China is surviving its most brutal winter in one hundred years. Temperatures in the normally mild south were low for so long that some middle-sized cities went weeks without electricity because once power lines had toppled it was too cold or too icy to repair them...

I don't see how this disproves global warming. We know that we are ALSO going through a climate change. The ice caps are melting, whether this is a result of global warming or climate change or natural cycles they are still melting. That the resultant water then evaporates and falls as snow in cold areas seems predictable to me. It is seems common sense that this will be why areas that rain a lot (like the UK) will have even more rain (as indeed we are).

It is a very simple fact that seems to escape so many people, we are polluting our atmosphere and this is having a detrimental effect on our environment and on us in it. Yes the planet goes through cycles, but this does not detract from the fact that as a result of our actions we are causing damage to our bio-sphere. The planet will eventually get over it, life on the planet, if we continue to refuse to adapt to this information, will eventually find itself in a toxic environment which will gradually deplete our numbers to the point of extinction, if we don't just wipe ourselves out in the meantime. I would very much like it if we could adapt, stop consuming and started taking responsibility for our individual actions. While we sit waiting for someone to save us, our toxicity is also depleting all other life on the planet. The planet will start again without us, but should it really have to? What is the point of sapience if we don't use it?

The only conspiracy here is that the 'masses' don't want to admit to the problem because they can't give up the soma of consumerism and the MSM, elites and corporations only feed the fugue - who after all provides the money to fund the research that concludes that global warming can't be happening because it has snowed a lot in Siberia? Who publicisies the information? Who carries the advertisements and manufactures the crap that we fill our empty work-a-day lives with?

It is alright chaps, they say we can keep polluting the water and the air, it doesn't do any harm, it's just the earth time of millenia

Global warming is not just about the earth getting warmer, it is not just about polar ice caps melting, what we need to realise, quite simply, is that we can change our impact on the planet from a negative one to a positive one if we all make the effort. The people that sell us throw-away crap don't want us to do this because they make a lot of money from selling us that crap.

Why, when we are polluting the earth and its atmosphere, depleting our resources etc etc, are we still manufacturing products that are cheaper to throw-away and replace than to repair? Plain silly. Profiteerism.

And it was another very mild winter in the UK whilst of the Baltic region had the least snowfall in living memory - thus proving that global warming is still happening

Of course the truth is that natural variability still happens and the events of one year prove absolutely nothing in terms of long term climate trends.

Ironic though that people who refuse to accept a record hot year proves GW, then try and use a record cold year as proof against GW. Can't have it both ways
