I've grown up the outskirts of the Hanford site all of my life, contrary to the stories, I have never seen or experienced anything out of the ordinary. Only in about the past 5 years have I started reading about what really goes on in the area. I've driven out to the 400 east area about 5 miles past the FFTF (Fast Flux Test Facility) several times where I was forced to turn around at a gated guard station, again never any problems. In January of this year I was coming home on highway 240 which leads to Hanford when I spotted a convoy of black armored vehicles with light bars on the tops and US government license plates. There was some sort of badge logo on the doors which I couldn't quite make out. Total there were roughly 35 to 40 of these vehicles which all continued the road to the Hanford site. When I returned home I called my father in law who has worked on the site for the better part of his life, he told me that he had no idea what division of government this could be but suspected it had something to do with the US Marshalls. It got the better of me so I got back in the car and drove out to the site to see if the vehicles were anywhere to be seen. I was unable to make it to the gated area before a Hanford patrol vehicle kindly escorted me back to city property. The officer had the right to search my car and person without a warrant as posted on signes about every mile or so (for some reason everything is measured in KM's out there, weird) but simply followed me back to Richland and went on his way. After reading about the Green Run, etc. I have to admit I've completely lost faith in anything the media has to say about this site. Anyone else ever visited this site or have any ideas?

Did anything look like it could transport 320,000 gallons of radioactive liquid sodium or other hazardous materials?

Nope, looked similar to Hum V's.

I don't know that sounds pretty odd. It could be some sort of highly advanced clean up crew. I worked for WASHPURG for awhile and we were trying to raise public awareness about the site. It is the second most polluted area in the World. If I were you I'd move far away from there.

I know they've been moving the humvee style vehicles off of the fort around here. I randomly drove by like 30+ parked at an abandoned metal fabrication plant a week or two ago.

I guess you would have heard if was a scheduled compliance checkup for safety and maintenance... Maybe they were bringing them all out of the garage so they can be shipped overseas?

I'll pass that on to my mom, whom is about to retire from the Hanford site, and move back home to the midwest. I seriously doubt she (my mom) would know what's going on up there, but I could ask next time I talk to her.

There are no warheads at Hanford. Your best bet would be to check out the Bremerton Naval Yard. The 2nd largest stockpile of nuclear weapons are stored there (to my knowledge).

There's been a bunch of conspiracy speculation bs lately about NATO building a base on the Hanford site, living as close as I do I can pretty much assure you it's a crock! I never see any military air traffic over or close to the site, and by never I mean maybe once per year an F-16 or something will fly over. I just attribute that to guarding government installation.
