Lets hear your predictions about how its going to turn out.

I'm picking the following:

Montreal over Boston
Ottawa over Pittsburgh
Washington over Philadelphia
New Jersey over New York Rangers
Detroit over Nashville
San Jose over Calgary
Minnesota over Colorado
Dallas over Anaheim

Oh, and by the way, I know hockey is not a "U.S. Sport". You'll live, though.

One last thing..

Caps all the way, baby.

Even if they don't get that far, they had one heck of a year. I'm so proud of them making the playoffs at all.

The Capitals almost didn't make it at all. That must have been pretty exciting, being a few years since the last playoff appearance and then barely getting in. Not only did they barely get in, but they jumped from #9 to #3 in a matter of days.

I think for a day or something the potential matchup was Pittsburgh and Washington. Ovechkin vs Crosby. That would have been a pretty exciting series.

Habs all the way. Bringing the Cup home, baby!
Looking back, great trade Huet to Washington. Helps the Habs win the East and gets the Caps into the playoffs.

Well, since The Leafs failed me yet again(3 years in a row? what the heck) I have made my choices Washington and Pittsburgh in the east, and Calgary and Minnesota in the west.

Predictions for round 1:

East:
Montreal over Boston in 5(being generous to the B's)

Pittsburgh over Ottawa in 6(Fleury is the Pens big question mark still)

Washington over Philadelphia in 5(Ovechkin's gonna light it up)

New Jersey over New York Rangers in 7(even match, but go Brodeur)

West
Detroit over Nashville in 6(Not the best team in the league for nothing)

Calgary over San Jose in 7(Gonna be a battle, but have to go Canadian)

Minnesota over Colorado in 6(Colorado's goaltending in question)

Anaheim over Dallas in 6(Brad Richards seems more like a hurt than a help)

Flagging and starring this thread because I plan to keep with it throughout the playoffs. My only hope is that Calgary brings the cup back to the Great White North because I'd never hear the end of it if Montreal or Ottawa did(but we all know that Ottawa is going out in the first round so....)

Montreal, baby! Make the switch. Leafs will only disappoint.
Hey, did you hear the Leafs got the seventh pick overall. Let's see what they can do with it.

Never!!!!!!! I love the city, but the hockey team can fold for all I care. Actually, let me rescind that, I wouldn't want to give up the rivalry, too much history. No matter how bad either team is, you can always count on a good Leafs-Habs game.

7th pick is OK, but after all these "great" players we've drafted over the years, how many of them have actually lived up to even a little hype they've received? Not too many.

I will (secretly) pull for Montreal to have a good run if for no other reason than to bring the cup back to Canada, but I will never betray the Blue and White, even if it takes another 40 years.

Montreal and Detroit in the final with the Habs winning in 6. Price has a Patrick Royesque performance circa '86 and wins the Conn Smythe.

A question for you all.

Do you know why Betteman won't let Hamilton or Kitchener have a franchise?

Because then Toronto would want one too.

Here's a read for you Leaf fans. Enjoy.

Read it, completely true. I heard they actually make more money when they're bad than good. Makes no sense, they have all the money they need, just no one to manage it. Maybe all this Brian Burke denying he's going to Toronto may actually lead somewhere.

Flyers will beat Washington. But then they will not win in the next round.

It'll probably be the Red Wings once again.

Don't they ever get board having Stanley in town so much ???

I hope the Red Wings don't win anything. I can't stand them and I have the great misfortune of living in Michigan near Detroit so I won't hear the end of it on the news. It gets really annoying.

I agree about the Wings but would still have them win over the Ducks again.
Being a Kings fan, I just get to sit back and watch some good playoff hockey without the pressure of hoping my team doesn't lose

(The hockey gods hate the Los Angeles Kings!!)

I don't know what you're talking about there. Detroit hasn't won the Cup since 2002 and just three times since 1955. To me, that is not that much at all. Yes, they have been a top team since the mid 90s but they have a tendency to get upset in the playoffs. Will be no different this year.

Oh, and don't worry about the Flyers beating Washington. I am making the call Caps in 5.

I've also got Caps in five.

Habs fans: who/what did we end up giving you for Huet? I honestly don't remember.

Pittsburgh over Ottawa
Washington over Philadelphia
New York Rangers over New Jersey Devils
Detroit over Nashville
Calgary over San Joes
Colorado over Minnesota
Anaheim over Dallas

I'm flying to Montreal next Thursday, and Game 5 would happen to be that night if it goes that far. I'm hoping to make it to it if possible.

Did you see that domination of the "Stanley Cup Champs"?

And just like that, home-ice advantage is in Dallas' hands.

Anaheim got thumped last night.

Even the best teams get beat, but getting beat and getting dominated are too entirely different things. They were dominated last night.
