Thx for the help everyone, one of my first thoughts was Father Christmas, as we call him over here

Still not entirely convinced though, I think im gonna take it to The Collection in Lincoln.

SnoopyUK,if you could find out who I need to take it to that would be a great help thx
.

Not sure about the protector though I'm starting to think its cursed or something lots of mad stuff happening in the 2 days after I found it culminating in me busting my toe lol.

Don't think i dreamt about santa claus but I do remember thinking it, it might have been a dream though.

Thats how the sowing machine was invented, he couldnt get it to work then he had a dream about warriors with spears and all the spears had the eye of the needle in the sharp end not the other end.

It looks like Jason and the Golden fleece or something. The fleece being on his helmet.
Although IMO, not very well done.
Probably garden statuary.

Could you please enlighten me and tell me when exactly MONGOL HORDES were galloping all over Britain? I would like to know. Romans invaded long ago, but Mongols? Please provide proof.

Nice post OP.

I think the stone head is from a Norse era.

This is an example.

Showing its true size threw me off. It may have come from a larger statue or like a previous poster off a grave stone.

The decoration on the helmet is bothering me. I haven't seen that pattern before. It could be a king from a christmas Creche seen (made with concrete), the "miners lamp" now being a "royal jewel/ crown jewel".

Was this ever solved, did it turn out just to be a gnome???
As one poster also mentioned - the size though me, i was thinking along the lines of a doorstop from an old church:
