portugal and the euro cup

I and a friend are going down to portugal for a mounth during the euro cup 2004.
I was woundering if anyone who have ben to portugal recently, or lives there, could give me a few pointers of what to do don there, besides see the games.
can you cet by on english?
is the trains, busses good, cheap?
how expensive is food and beer,
age for clubbing, or is it even enforced?
these are questions I would love to have answered!
ps willbe staying in lisbon aiera(think its spelled that way) branca and Viana do Castelo.
