Seems everyone is stoked from the AIASP comp. So what do we do now? I'm open to ideas, have one of my own. Would you guys like to go with "challenge
matches"? I was in one and learned a pantload while doing it. Read the OP here to see
what I'm talking about.

Love it...a big ol' March Madness bracket filled with writers.
We could call it April Apoplexy.

AIASP turned out to be a virtual treasure trove of literary fiction which I am not surprised by given the great minds we have here. I'm thinking of
an alien encounter, minus et come home riding the bike in the air. Greatly enjoyed all contributers and when I grow a pair would like to take a stab
myself.
Thanks all
John

Two men enter, one man leaves!
*insert chanting crowd here*
I had a blast with this, throwing down not only with my very finest homeboy Intrepid, but also with my old buddy Masqua. We were contemplating having
an ongoing challenge league, but support of that dried up somehow. Links below!

I think the "Writer Circuit" idea is spectacular.

Hey people,
Would be cool to get another writing competition going, im all for the head to head battles or another short story comp, or both at the same time.
Intrepid, please could you clear the AIASP stories or put them into their own thread, just to bump this to the top of the short stories forum. Not
sure if people know this thread is here.
Thanks,
JQ.

I haven't tackled the fiction here, as a writer, but I'm game.
I have an idea for one somewhat along the lines of "A Canticle For Leibowitz", if anyone remembers that one from long ago.

Cerns has a bad day. A fictional short story of an event that goes horribly out of control.
The HAARP masters. What really goes on behind the scenes.
Trapped. Under a collapsed building after a devestating earthquake.
Kindred spirits and immediate awareness. How two people find each other and have connection.
Just a few thoughts.

My idea, which may get a lame response..
Who or what you were in a previous life.

Let's get some ideas out here and see what we can do. How about, "A Really Bad Day"?

I like the 'previous life' idea AD. Not lame at all.
'Really bad day' would be very compelling, and not necessarily fiction.
First 24 hrs for a nuclear holocaust survivor.
The aliens that came for dinner.

me too. I kina like the idea of whats next. It could be a game of sorts. Like you write something and the next person continues it on and so forth and
so on.

For the short story comp I thought of "A day in the life of..." it could be any person (real or not), animal, or object. Any time period. If not, I
would like to see a positive theme to the short story comp, though what I dont know?
Also can we get the head to head battles going too. If a staff member started a thread on questions board asking for 20 or so people to take part im
sure people would sign up.
Judges can choose the battles, you have seven days to write the story, then judged, winner goes through to the next round and so on.
If we get both comps going at the same time there will be something for everyone to take part in. Plus also alot of fun and we all love fun...

Awhile back, some of us played a writer's game of sorts : . . . . .
Where we were given a list of 5 to 10 things that "had" to be
incorporated into a short story, our own short story. It was quite fun.
Some writers could take the same items everyone else used and come up
with a completely different "take", depending on which words they chose
to stress. (Eg.- The word orange. A fruit, or a color ?) The shortness
of the story, ( 500 words or less ), and the mandatory usage of all words
on the list made the contest quite fun.
If nothing more, it could get us thinking again until something solid comes.

What a great book.
Talk about a novel that doesn't get the play it deserves.
So what I hear you saying is that you've written something that DWARFS that book in scope and impact...yes?

Now that is a 'novel' idea siege. 5 to 10 things to incorporate into short story. That would up the ante and challenge plenty. Wonderful idea.
Thanks
