Barr may run for president on Libertarian ticket

Topic started on 1-4-2008 @ 12:24 PM by jsobecky

Bob Barr for president? According to the Washington Times, the former Republican congressman from Cherokee County confirms he is considering a run for the White House as a Libertarian.

"There is great deal [of] dissatisfaction with the candidates for the two major parties, particularly among conservatives, but also a great deal of Internet and other support for a candidate like Ron Paul who advocates libertarian and true conservative principles," Barr, who is now a Libertarian, told the newspaper.

Paul, a Republican candidate this year, was the Libertarian presidential candidate in 1988. The Times said Barr declined to say whether he had been approached by Paul about a presidential bid.

Well its hard to see Barr having much impact if he does to chose to run. I suppose some of the more Libertarian reminded Republicans might give this guy a look in given how far the party has drifted from Goldwater . That and IMO a lot of support for Paul Libertarian orientated policy's is a reaction to the failure of the two party system or rather peoples dislike of US governments decisions .
