Wow...this is truly fascinating and creepy. It's just too bad you say your not too tech savy to record or capture all these occurances with cameras and video. I actually don't think I would mind doing what you do. Just sounds exciting...like you never know what's gonna happen each night...

We do allow room requests only when we are not real busy, otherwise we can't guantee any room in particular, but you can certianly ask. As for the surveillance system, I see changing screens on the TV beside me, I can change the TV from surveillance to regular TV programming. In the back room I have a monitor, it shows several different views from the camera's, and I can click on one and 'rewind it' for up to one hours viewing, and it shows it in FF. I tryed doing a print screen on it the other night and it didn't work. I wish I had a way to pull it up right here, I have seen the owner do just that, but I can't locate the program on this workstation. He can pull it up on even his cell phone. Sometimes they are in India and watch us from there, but I am told it is always monitored by a paid security company. I would like to mention that if you, or anyone else who is following this thread decide to come check out the hotel, please do, but don't mention this thread or anything I am telling you all, I am already strapped to this job, I don't know what I would do if I lost it, that is the only reason I stay, that , and I am personally intrigued by the activity even if it scares me. My boss/owner is Hindu, and they strongly disagree with the idea of 'ghosts', how can you have ghosts if you believe that we are all reincarnated? And he thinks it would be bad for bussiness if people knew the strange goings on here.

I would like to mention another location here that is extremely haunted, all the locals know about it, you can probably google it and get some results on it, but it is known as ccc road, or 7 bridges road, or the church on ccc road. Located on the backside of the worlds largest college campus, it has currently got a reputation for a place for satanic worship, supposedly because of the evil that resides there. It is a rite of passage to go up the road, then back out, counting the bridges each way. Every time you do it, there are missing bridges coming back out. 7 going in, 5-6 coming back out, that is why they call it 7 bridges road, but the road's real name is ccc road.

Sorry qball, I wish I could, but I don't have security acess for that. If I knew how to pull up the internet on the monitor in the back I would, but there is not an icon for it, I am pretty sure all that is on that computer is the security cameras and those components. I need to bring a camera to work I suppose and take pictures. I will do that tommorrow night and see if I capture anything.

I doubt if I will visit anytime soon but no worries! I wouldn't say anything! I would never do anything to cause problems.

As far as the owner telling you they have a 24 our security company watching the cameras...haha..he is lying to you! The only places that do that are casinos, to prevent theft because there are millions of dollars involved, and they hire their own people. There is no feasible way to watch cameras for "unusual activity" in the general sense for restaurants or hotels.

Imagine for one moment that such a security company DID exist, dozens of $10 an hour employees watching tons of cameras, and then on one screen a bunch of customers/employees ended up being shot or whatever by a robber and the security company employee was talking to his girlfriend on the phone and never noticed the incident or called the police. The company in charge of "monitoring" could expect to be sued many times over by each victims family. It simply is not done in the hospitality industry (unless they have their own security team watching the cameras). Alarm companies that do offer monitoring only check when the alarm goes off, way different than watching tons of cameras looking for "suspicious" activity.

Besides we both know your owners are ultra-cheap and would not pay a penny for any service if it could be avoided. I have dealt with Indian restaurant/hotel owners a lot.

There is a good chance the owner is just pulling up a webpage when he views the cameras, and there is no software program to look for (when the webpage comes up the software automatically opens). Check the browser history and look for links, if you find a link it may ask for a password but hopefully that has been saved.

Or another option on the workstation that already shows the cameras, if the workstation is a regular fully functioning PC (i.e. you can use that computer for other things besides just viewing the cameras, it has regular windows software on it, Word, Excel, etc...) then you could download free programs that capture and record everything on the screen creating an instant video. You could live record or use the playback feature that you mentioned.

Some of the programs are super simple and work really well. I used Mr. Captor, though it is not technically free, but well if one wanted it free...well anything is possible. If you go that route download the software at home, figure it out, put it on a CD and then bring that to work to upload (instead of risking the download of unknown software on the work machine).

Being able to capture the shadows/activity on film is a rare opportunity indeed.

Hey Sonya, sorry, but I am not too savy with the computer stuff. I am totally self taught when it comes to it. I was going to bring in my own camera, take pictures, and email them to myself, then move them to photobucket and upload them here, but my dear hubby left the camera out at the garden apparently, and it won't do anything but beep. I will see if I can borrow one. As far as the owners lying about the security system, I don't doubt it. I worked at a store though that had 24 surviellence, I didn't know it did until one night they were speaking to a shoplifter in the store , they caught him, called the police, and then told him that he was to remain in the store until the police arrived, and the did arrive right then. I was looking all over the place trying to figure out who the h was talking to the guy! Anyway, I assumed that the system we have here is similar.

Just to update all tonight:

Not really sure if this would seem strange to anyone but me, but I have never had elevator problems, and tonight a man called down and said his daughter was in the elevator, had been in it for about 45 min and it wouldn't move, I grabbed the emergency key to open it and wondered why she didn't call me on the emergency phone, but I got her out and she was hysterical, she said the thing stopped and the lights went off, she tried the phone but it wouldn't work, so she used her cell phone but had to keep trying to move around to get it to work. Finally she got a signal and called her dad to call me. I woke my manager up to fix the elevator, it won't work now at all.

editv=v sorry, I forgot to say that the emegency phone was working when she got off.

Large stores have their own security to catch shoplifters, they are not worried about having to catch and report incidents involving a threat to life.

Most hotels with pools will not put cameras over the pool area for fear of being sued if someone drowns (they worry that someone could say they saw the cameras and assumed the pool area was being monitored for safety). If your hotel is like that, with no cameras over the pool, you should just mention to the owners that they SHOULD put cameras on the pool area so the 24 hour security company could call you if someone were drowning. : )

Regarding taking your digital camera to work, I assume that is to photograph the monitors. That might work but i would worry the quality would be really bad.

Is it a simple phone that has a dial tone and just takes zero to get the front desk? Could be malicious ghostly activity but it is more likely she panicked and it was dark and she just couldn't get the phone to work.

Very interesting post and based on the hotel owner's origin, I would not believe half of what he talks about...I know...a family member is hindu and he lies 99.9% of the times....anyway.... Check on the computer and see if you can find an ICON that saids Sling Player....he could have a slingbox connected to the system and that is how he can watch at home or via phone....

I live in Dallas, GA.....actually New Hope and based on the things you have said.....I find your stories 1000% credible.

I am not sure exactly what hotel you work in but I would like to know and I am willing to loan you a camera if you can not get one. I would also be interested in maybe spending the night with you in order to collect evidence if you want me to.......your call.

Wow Cooper, Dallas GA huh? That place is a melting pot of paranormal activity. The short story I am working on is about some things that happened to me when I lived there. I used to live on Bobo Rd, near the junk yard, are you familiar? New Hope church is at the end of the road. I used to find mini balls all over my yard too, we found a pair of confederate pants, folded and placed under a rock, I turned it in to the museum, we didn't try to move them. I also found trenches on TOP of the mountian, that was odd. Anyway, when I lived there I was having a series of dreams that was just like someone was telling me a story, the end result of that story is about the Hell Hole, I think I know, if there is any truth to what I dreamed, why so many men died there, and why they can't locate the exact battleground or all the bodies.

Nothing new to report Cooper, with one exception, I mentioned to the manager about the legal issues that could come up with the pool camera, as mentioned by a poster above, and he took the camera down, I noticed that the camera, which is sitting by the desk now, has moisture in it, it is a Gen IV brand, I suppose all the ones outside are the same brand, so some of what I have seen on those particular cameras could be caused by this moisture getting in them. It does not explain anything I have seen on camera inside the building however. Tonight we are unusually full for a sunday night, and like I have mentioned before , I don't see a lot of activity when a lot of people are here. Keep watching for my posts though, I am off for a few days (till Thursday) so I will pick back up on this thread then, if anything happens. Thanks for letting me and the hotel maintain your interest.

The junkyard is gone? I wonder what happened? You know, the house to the left of is is extremely haunted, many stories about that place, that is the one I lived in. Aside from having been a makeshift hospital during the civil war, the current owners had a son who lived his whole life out in a little room in there, the room is tiny, the ceiling was just above my head and I am a shorty! He had something wrong with him and died very young, in that room, and another fellow shot his wife in that house, she died and he was originally charged with shooting her, the charges were later dropped, citing it was an accident, mostly due to his distraught manner during the pre-trial, he is a friend of mine's brother, and the house owners are my friends aunt and uncle, anyway, the brother that shot his wife said he really doesn't know what happened, he doesn't remember shooting her, but he did love her very much and was a broken man over it for a long time. Have you ever seen the picture of the ghost from New Hope Church that is in the daycare? If not you gotta see it!

Haha…he took it down, so much for his 24 hour monitoring. All of the regular cameras are made overseas by big manufacturers so unless the company that installed it put their own sticker on the camera, the manufacturer does not mean anything. If there is moisture in the camera it will make the picture a bit blurry, or cause a fuzzy area, but it wouldn’t cause movement of any type. It takes a while for the moisture to seep in.

Holy Crap! It has been quiet around here for a week or so now, and Jesus Christ I just got the **** scared out of me! I went into the breakfast serving area, I have to cross the room to turn on the lights, well, enough light was coming throught the lobby window that I didn't turn them on, I was just going to heat up my lunch, and I was standing at the counter ( the old bar counter) where the micro is, and something very deliberately brushed up against my back, almost pushing me forward! I turned around and the door going into the storeroom behind that counter was opening! I have called the maintenance guy to come and check it out, make sure no one is hiding in that little room, but I really want him to come down so I can go get my Ramen noodles out of the microwave! LOL! I gotta have some humor about this guys, I would lose it otherwise!

Sorry Cooper, I haven't put anything on here in a while, things have been happening, I am now terrified of the dining area, I hate it when I have to go over there and set up breakfast. I feel like someone is right behind me every time now, the other night the door to the storeroom closed on me while I was in it, and the latch hook 'somehow' got latched. Thank God I had the phone with me, I called the maintenance guy at 4:15am and he had to come down and let me out. It was one of the latches that you fold over and then insert a lock into. At times I can actually hear footsteps right behind me, but if I dare look of course nothing is there. My relief worker, she won't work past 3:00 am now, she says after 3 it gets spooky and weird in here, so the boss gets up and takes over for her at 3. I asked her what spooks her, she said she feels like she is being watched, and she won't go to the bathroom at the front either, I know why, when it is late and you go in there, you here a sound that reminds me of someone going 'shush', you know, like 'be quiet'. The other stall doors will make sounds like they are opening as you are in your stall too. I had to wonder if our fear makes it manifest more. Also, I have been out of work here and there lately, I was run over in the parking lot here by a phycotic Mary Kay dealer on the fourth of July, in a hurry to beat traffic. I don't have any broken bones, just bad bruises and a very stiff neck and back, I think a nerve may be pinched or something. I did some research though, this hill where the hotel is was part of the original fort Norton, a civil war fort, and there is quite a bit of history about what took place here.

Sorry about the parking lot incident, I hope you get better soon.

Were you ever able to get a picture camera....???? Pictures of the dining area should show something interesting....

Hang in there....
