A company called Boston Dynamics has invented an extremely lifelike robotic dog. Not sure what this will be used for but it's awesome.

If, by 'lifelike', you mean creepy.


I think it touches on some Uncanny Valley aspects with the motion of the legs.

Interesting how they incorporaed kneeling as part of the recovery strategy.

I've seen earlier versions of this "pooch" and it has definitely progressed! That ice recovery was sweet! DARPA funds a lot of really cool projects. Although the military applications pale in comparison to the off-world possibilities.
