Alan Holmer, special envoy for China and the Strategic Economic Dialogue between the United States and China, said the yuan, or renminbi, had gained "a little over 18 percent" since July 2005.

"The accelerating rate of appreciation is significant and welcome and we believe it should continue," he told a news conference on Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson's trip next week to China.

WTF?!?

I cannot help but think these 'financial leaders' of ours are DELIBERATELY trying to collapse us as a nation!

Why on Earth would you tell the nation we are in the MOST DEBT TO to keep raising their currency while ours is simultaniously plummeting into never-never land?!? While we are experiencing near stag-flation and the cost of EVERYTHING sky-rocketing, these people are telling foreign countries to raise prices higher???

Is it just me, or does anyone else see an alarming trend with what these people are doing to us?

The Chinese government is keeping its currency undervalued for a long time now and obviously that is not good for the outside world. A big problem is that there were huge investments in China, a lot of money were sent over there, and if the Chinese markets collapse soon there will be even bigger damage to the US economy (a lot of people think that will happen later this year). It is even worse that these money were not used by the Chinese government to build prosperity, but to ruin its nation, which inevitably will lead to bad consequences.
