Here is a video of a series of still images taken by astronaut Don Pettit from the ISS 5 years ago, which shows in detail unlike any seen before, what
our cities look like at night from space.
As well as the beauty, these images also vividly illustrate how light polluted our modern world has become. As an astrophotographer, I'm torn between
loving these images and at the same time wishing all the lights would go away! I hope you enjoy the video.
Amazing stuff. It really shows how humans evolve and spread themselves across the earth. The patterns we create are amazing, yet destructive. It
reminds me of that old quote from The Matrix "The Human Race is a Virus..."
