Replying to an old post I know, but that article is about 2003 UB313, now known as Eris, the largest known dwarf planet in the solar system. Not Planet X and not Nibiru that is supposedly coming to get us in time for 2012! Seriously, Nibiru falls into the same category as fire breathing dragons, leprechauns, unicorns and the tooth fairy, all are myths.

As I said in another thread, I have been researching this matter since the 2003 date of Nibiru's so-called "fly by", so over the time I have compiled alot of data that includes everything from it's so-called orbit to the ramblings of Zecharia Sitchin. It's in no particular order but I will go through it, get it into order and regularly post my evidence. I have not read through this entire thread yet so I will do that to make sure nothing I post has been posted already. Great thread by the way, flagged and starred.

while i liked the approach in opening post, i don't like it's authors way mark something as a fact even it is disputable. for example, how can you really say which is the correct interpretation of word 'Nibiru' as the meanings are perhaps originally 3000+ years old. one really cannot state such things as facts, as the interpretation may vary as the times goes on. im sure more we learn about sumerians, more we will understand their texts and language, but claiming such thing as a fact is unfortunately a lie. fact is, that heavy, small and round object will fall downwards when on earths atmoshpere, due some unknown force which is called at the moment 'gravitation'.

but nevertheless, i starred your post as i agree that planet x believers are as blind as fundamental religionists that only accept facts that are supportive to their view.

Zecharia Sitchin, along with Erich von Däniken and Immanuel Velikovsky, make up the holy trinity of pseudohistorians. Each begins with the assumption that ancient myths are not myths but historical and scientific texts. Sitchin's claim to fame is announcing that he alone correctly reads ancient Sumerian clay tablets. [Of course, he didn't announce this by taking out an ad in the New York Times but by implying it with his "translations" that do not jibe with the work of legitimate scholars in the field.] If Sitchin is right, then all other scholars have misread these tablets, which, according to Sitchin, reveal that gods from another planet (Niburu, which orbits our Sun every 3,600 years) arrived on Earth some 450,000 years ago and created humans by genetic engineering of female apes. Niburu orbits beyond Pluto and is heated from within by radioactive decay, according to Sitchin. No other scientist has discovered that these descendants of gods blew themselves up with nuclear weapons some 4,000 years ago (The War of Gods and Men, p. 310).* Sitchin alone can look at a Sumerian tablet and see that it depicts a man being subjected to radiation. He alone knows how to correctly translate ancient terms allowing him to discover such things as that the ancients made rockets (ibid., p. 46).* Yet, he doesn't seem to know that the seasons are caused by the earth's tilt, not by its distance from the sun.

Sitchin was born in Russia, was raised in Palestine, and graduated from the University of London with a degree in economic history. He worked for years as a journalist and editor in Israel before settling in New York.

Sitchin, like Velikovsky, presents himself as erudite and scholarly in a number of books, including The Twelfth Planet (1976) and The Cosmic Code (1998). Both Sitchin and Velikovsky write very knowledgeably of ancient myths and both are nearly scientifically illiterate. Like von Däniken and Velikovsky, Sitchin weaves a compelling and entertaining story out of facts, misrepresentations, fictions, speculations, misquotes, and mistranslations. Each begins with their beliefs about ancient visitors from other worlds and then proceeds to fit facts and fictions to their basic hypotheses. Each is a master at ignoring inconvenient facts, making mysteries where there were none before, and offering their alien hypotheses to solve the mysteries. Their works are very attractive to those who love a good mystery and are ignorant of the nature and limits of scientific knowledge. They are especially attractive to those who are ignorant of biblical and historical scholarship.

Sitchin promotes himself as a Biblical scholar and master of ancient languages, but his real mastery was in making up his own translations of Biblical texts to support his readings of Sumerian and Akkadian writings.

He's let us know he's going to twist the translations around to support his thesis. Indeed, a reader of Sitchin's book would do well to keep a couple of Bibles handy to check up on the verses Sitchin quotes. Many of them will sound odd or unrecognizable because they have been translated from their familiar form (this is made harder by the fact that Sitchin rarely tells you just which verse he is quoting). This would be much more acceptable if he wasn't using the twisted translations to support the thesis that led to the twisted translations (Hafernik).

Most of Sitchin’s sources are obsolete. He has received nothing but ridicule from scientific archaeologists and scholars familiar with ancient languages. His most charming quality seems to be his vivid imagination and complete disregard for established facts and methods of inquiry, traits that are apparently very attractive to some people.

Sitchin's ideas have been appropriated by Raël, another wise man, who has started his own religion (Raëlian Religion) around the idea that humans are the result of a DNA experiment by ancient visitors from outer space. Raël has even written a channeled book, dictated to him by extraterrestrials. It is called The Final Message. We can only hope it is.

Wow, an article that agrees with the whole Nibiru thing but dismisses Sitchin. At the end of the day those articles contain pretty much the same thing: opinion, theory and superstition without hard evidence to back up the claims. As afew have already pointed out in this thread, start with www.sitchiniswrong.com... for what the words Nibiru, Annunaki, etc, actually mean.

You know, when I first heard of Nibiru and saw some of the video's out there I got myself all worked up and scared #less to be honest. But then I did what most rational people do, I started looking for myself, and when I did that I made a suprising conclusion.....
Nibiru is a myth, nothing more. It was something dreamed up by people with overactive imaginations, and allthough that was simple enough, other people saw it and thought "Well damn I can make me alot of money off of this".

As usual , your QUICK check into Nibiru without knowing ALL THE FACTS, and picking on 1 peson as the AUTHORITY is really baseless. I have a Close friend in NASA, who told me it is all TRUE ! Now as he is retired, not thinking that he may still be monitered, I made the Mistake of calling him to ask about all of this, Now I cannot reach him anymore! Do I need to Prove anything to anyone. Not really...with no evidence to back up their claims, these articles are little more than a story.

Furthermore, why didn't Steffan Stanford explain in the second article (written in 2004) why Nibiru failed to make it's appearance in 2003 as predicted by his wife Amitahk Stanford in the first article, which was written in 2002?

I started to post this in another Nibiru thread but figured it would be better here.

I am asuming that some of you are space gurus and can offer me insight into a possible theory.

I have been following Nibiru Soaps for a while now that also led me to the Galactic alignment. I would have to find it again, but it was stated that our solar system oscillates as it moves in our galaxy. Bobs up and down passing through the Galactic Plane(denser part of space) as it orbits the Milky Way centre. Mostly proven that this is how it is.

The only logical Nibiru scenario I can come up with(this is where I would like feed back) is that if this so called Nibiru was locked into this plane with out the Oscillation and same orbit as our solar system. Then we would actually approach Nibiru instead of the opposite.

I haven't been able to find the answer to how fast our solar sysem movement is when it bobs up and down. Would we not be approaching at a fairly fast rate which would make the fast approach plausable?

I know highly unlikely..... just the only logical possibility I have come up with for a Nibiru scenario. Please offer any opinions as it is just a theory, and I am no expert.

Try a search for "galactic plane harmonic oscillation". You'll find a few sources that say the period of the oscillation is 2.7 per "galactic year". Since the estimates of the length of a galactic year vary, let's use the lowest value:

225 million years / 2.7 = 83 million years per cycle

Even allowing for a wide margin of error it doesn't fit so well with Nibiru stories, any of them.

The laws of physics apply no matter where you are in the universe. They are universal.
