Above Politics Show 09
Martin and Justin interview ATS Member Don White, who is known far and wide as a Yellow Dog Democrat. As it turns out, Don has something in common
with Dave Rabbit. They both served in the Air Force. Don tells all about his brief stint as a UFO hunter and his preference for clean sheets. ATS
Members Biggie Smalls, and Before Time have their threads discussed as part of Don's interview. The show ends with some special words from Dave
Rabbit. Xpert11 wins the trivia challenge, and Justin has turn on the studio's Truth Filter....just to be safe.

Seven countries were founding members of NATO . As for the second part of the question I would say that Martin is getting at the fact that under de
Gaulle France pursued a more independent defence policy which included France becoming a Nuclear power.
Keep the shows coming guys.

Xpert11 is half right. The second half.
But the charter members of NATO actually numbered 12. Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway,
Portugal, the United Kingdom and the United States.

P.S.
Dave,
Thank you for the video. And thank you for quoting Dennis O'Brien's beautiful poem. But I, as a supporter of our Operation: Iraqi Freedom, take
umbrage at calling our fallen soldiers' sacrifice "senseless".
They believe that to be so anti-war as to be pro-tyranny is senseless. Freedom forever. Surrender never.
Sic semper tyannus.
May every man and woman who ever wears the uniform come home unscathed. But, if they can't, let them know that their cause was just and their
sacrifice is understood and honored. We owe them no less than the fact that that's true.
They've never let us down and we should never let them down. We agree on that, of course.
Other than that little quibble, excellent video and excellent delivery. That's why you're Dave Rabbit and I'm me.

P.P.S.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Do I have to start an ATS fund to get Justin a decent microphone?
Seriously, Justin. Why does everyone else sound crystal clear while you sound like yer speaking through a nylon stocking into a tin can attached to a
taut ball o' twine?
Is it a software issue? An internet connection issue? Are you jury-rigging a spare rotary phone to DSL via spare transistor parts? What'll it take
to get you up to snuff?
Suggestions from the peanut gallery are encouraged.

I promise, swear, and affirm, that I'm using a decent microphone. We use Powergramo, and I've been tweaking my volume levels. For those who know,
my volume is at 100, while the caller volume is at 50. I'll mess around with it this weekend.

The volume is fine. It's the quality of the sound that's lacking.

Justin I can understand your thinking behind the dems winning the White House but why are you sure that they will control both houses ?
The way I figure it is that if the Republicans play there cards right they could re take at least one of the houses. Congress has been polling at
around 11% that is hardly a display of wide spread confidence little alone public support for the demcratic controlled Congress .
On the other hand it could just be people disillusionment with politicians and the political process in general.

Based on the Nato website, 12 countries signed the agreement in 1949 and I was driving at France's nuclear weapons being outside direct Nato control
so I think the fairest thing to do is share the points between xpert11 and Tuning Spork.

So you know...Old Yeller was published in 1956 and people were called Yellow Dog Democrats back in the 1800's. It was used to describe people who
vote along their party lines without thought as to who the candidate was. They were called "yellow" because the thought of a cowardly and not free
thinkers. And the term "dog" was used because they were loyal as dogs are to a master.
Blue Dog Democrats are from the same time frame. They are voters who sided with the North and Republicans after and during the Civil War...hence the
color...BLUE.
In recent years it has referred to Democrats who tend to be more conservative in their spending views. These are the people Republicans can come to
agreements with much easier.
It has nothing to do with the dead dog in the book or hounds in Georgia.

Maybe you can help me out here, Justin. So your guest said, Obama's speech was presidential? Huh? was that a joke a I missed? He tried to shift the
blame from himself to the people who brought the questionable man up, by saying we all go to churches where the preacher says things we don't agree
with...while that may be true...do we stay there for 20yrs? If Wright's comments were so out of line, and Obama was soooo shocked by them...why
would he stay a member? And over the coarse of 20 years, wright just so happened to say racist and anti-american things when Obama wasn't there? And
we are supposed to believe wright is the only man in the church staff who feels this way? Pastors have to be approved by the deacons...and the
congregation. obama was upset with what wright said...come on...we all know that is a crock.
Don Imus said mean things about some girls playing basketball and look what happened to him, yet...Obama can be a member of a church where a man like
wright is at the pulpit. Where is Al Sharpton? Where is Jesse Jackson? Where is the ACLU or any number of other 'equality' groups and
foundations, who, in the spirit of equality, are standing up against the man?
Letting Obama get away with this...is racist...the very thing his run for the white house is trying to stop...no?

This week we have ATS member Johnny Utah on the show.
Johnny now based in Salt Lake City, lived on the coast of Mississippi and was out of town when Katrina hit so we are sure he will have things to say
about the Government response.
Johnny leans to the right of US Politics and has started the following threads:
Our Constitution Has Been SUSPENDED...oh, has it now?
The government lied to us...and they should have
So if you want to question Johnny, either post a question in this show thread or sent a u2u to either Justin or me
