Over the past year or so the state of Maine has been doing it's part to stamp out the Federal REAL ID Act.

This has been something that has been denounced here in Maine from the beginning.

Maine just may be America's Cananda!

Here are some points about the perceived problems with Real ID

Basically these points argue the privacy issue and the increase time and cost burden placed on states to benefit the feds.

What’s Wrong With Real ID

* It’s a national identity system. The standardized national driver’s licenses created by Real ID would become a key part of a system of identity papers, databases, status and identity checks and access control points – an “internal passport” that will increasingly be used to track and control individuals’ movements and activities.
* Will not be effective against terrorism.
* Will be a nightmare for state governments.
* Will mean higher fees, long lines, and bureaucratic nightmares for individuals.
* Increased security and ID-theft risks.
* Will be exploited by the private sector to invade privacy.
* Will expand over time.

Wow,

That's a great information site RoadGravel. Thanks for the link.

Does anyone know what will happen to those who try to fly after May 31st, whose state hasn't complied?
