Are points updated instantly?

I am just asking as it's the first time i have noticed. I have been posting, people replying to my thread and my points have not changed.

I was just wondering so i don't have to wonder anymore lol... or if this is odd and something has stopped working

Ok i see i am going to have to be more specific in my question.

Well, according to the experiment we can deduce that indeed (for you at least) they do not update instantly. (which again was your question, as clearly stated.)

Why is it not updated instantly? Or when is it updated?
It seems to me that it used to be updated instantly - but Im not sure that is the case now...so someone else will need to chime in.

Well i'm still sitting on 17589.

Is it just me or are others encountering the same problem?

Just for interest sake dAlen is on 14030 as of right now. If he again we shall see.

Well they dont seem to update automatically - so it would be interesting to find out when they do update.

It was my impression that this was an automatic thing.

Maybe someone has some insight into this?

Yep, I checked it out and that is indeed the case.
Seemed I remembered something about that years back when I looked at the point system.

Silent Shadow, do a search and you should find how the point system works.
(Not all forums get equal weight)

I already assumed that no points for this forum. No stars etc.

I was posting elsewhere and not increasing. It has gone up, not correctly, however i was just wondering.

Plus that link you sent me to. I read it and it is not the be all and end all link as it doesn't answer my original question and there is incorrect information contained in that link also.

I read it too,
and it answers in broad general strokes, without going into the nuts & bolts...

i have experience where anywhere from zero points to anywhere from 1-10 points were awarded to a single post.

but the "Applause" points are awarded after a U2U notice is sent.
(i guess after some moderators' weighing & deliberation on the value of your post or response that opens new ground.


i see you have 8 'Applause', congradulations,
and have points totaling:
ATS-17689
BTS-oo987
PTS-ooo45
_________
Total: 18,701...{or one Applause every 2,337.825 points}

Divided by 263 Post Count...{or one Applause every 32.875 posts,
now that is something noteworthy}
... rather than focusing on one's accrued point totals

Ah man Just thinking about this concerning my points makes my head hurt!!!

Dude I have been a member for 4+ years and I have thus far received one applause, my bar is poop green, and my PTS points is in the negatives even though I never post in PTS...

There is no structure to this madness, it's all completely random. I suppose one could argue this chaos is really a higher order, but I disgress. No, I think we have an ATS conspiracy at hand!

If you catch elevatedone in Chat, I've been known to throw out random points... sometimes for trivia, sometimes just for a funny post.

I'll do alot more then a funny post for some color in my bar

I personally have never been able to find out what the points are even for, why I get them, and why would I lose them? And if I lost them all, what the heck does that mean?

And what is PTS?

I just enjoy bieng here, I love the diversity of the conversations, and I am a sucker for anything having to do with space or the paranormal, ATS is right up my alley!
