Welcome Fellow Poets!

I thought it would be a good idea if we could bring our own written works to the table for discussion, as well as other classical or modern poetry penned by others.

Metaphors, Symbolism, Aliteration, the whole works.

Post your poems in here!

Help me see...through YOUR eyes.

Who knows what treasures we ALL will find, hidden in our words?

offering

The sky reminded him of shag carpet,
orange, with coffee and vomit stains -
the clouds were a scattered puzzle
never finished and thrown on the floor.

Darkened weeds touched his jeans to the thigh,
tickling his white-plastic fanny pack –
that waning moon on his hip,
his unzipped hoodie flailed in wind gusts.

There he stood, isolated in the field,
arms with upward palms raised to the sky,
his eyes wide open waiting for any sign
but only an inky night gradually surrounded him.

Across doorways neat
As holes in punch cards
the eyelash of sparks
flick sudden amethyst
or purple.

Don't get me wrong
I like shrines and holy places
where I can ride
my bicycle thru
globes of red
and purple.

Perhaps I should
sit on the curb
and wait.

My poetry/lyrics are very heavily influenced by the Beat Poets like Ginsberg, Corso, Ferlinghetti etc. with their swing and symbology.
Most of my work ends up as tunes usually sung in an Aminor7, II V I progression. Depending on my mood, sometimes I vamp both lyrics and music. Improvization....

How, and which way, would you like to discuss your poetry?
