I have two concerns with this issue...

1: If the link isn't clearly labeled as being underage porn, and is amongst regular links to legal pornography, users may click on it not realizing what it is... my first encounter with the terms "BBW" and "Natural" comes to mind, I certainly won't be clicking any of those links again.

2: People who are actively seeking out sickos like these will click on the link to verify it's content in an attempt to report child pornographers. Essentially, the good guys wanting to take down these sickos get confused with the sickos.
I used to report pedophiles trying to pick up children back in the IRC days. Imagine how angry I'd be if I were confused with one of them for trying to report them.

This can and will be a good thing and a bad thing. Personally i think there should be a group of secret child protectors out there that have only one mission...search and destroy all child molesters, rapists, and sexual predators.
Mind you only the ones that are guilty. hospitals are for sick people, not these inhuman waste of air sucking creatures.
I have two children and would not think twice about what i would do if someone did anything of that nature to either of them.
It's sad we live in a nation that so many horrible things are happening to our children and it seems nobody cares enough to stop them from the chance of EVER harming another child.
Anybody up for a new secret society???
A mistake..a click that was an accident...get the hard drive check it and confirm, then release or if proven child porn watcher, and or predator.... KILL.

If this is true I can see people posting the link everywhere just for laughs look at things like Rick Rolling.

The links will be popping up on chatrooms, blogs even sites like this and will get a lot innocent people.

It's easy to take any link and hide it with redirects like Tinyurl or others I can remember when XP first came out there was a link that could wipe the whole system when clicked on and people were setting up trick pages just to do that on people.

Basicly the internet is full of jerks and links like this are their dream come true.

If you would have read the thread first, you would have seen that what you are describing, with "Rick Rolling", was actually attempted in this very thread. :shk:

Unfortunately, many are blind to the dangers of the FBI using such tactics.

I'm all for catching anyone dealing in the child sex industry; however, there are far better methods that wouldn't pose such a threat to those in the general public who are innocent of such crimes.

It seems that if it has anything to do with child molesters, the logic is "lock up everyone, but throw the innocents back into the tax machine." Effing fascists.

As said, if theres a link that says basically 'Child Porn' and someone clicks it then the only reason for doing so it to look at said content, in which case they deserve everything they get.

Beats the hell out of getting Rickrolled daily though I guess

Sigh, you obviously didn't read the thread either. The link doesn't need to say anything at all about "porn" of any nature.

So wait, technically, I could go to somebodies house that I really don't like but pretend I do, look up child pornography, and get him caught by the FBI? Well, it just gets easier and easier to set people up for false crimes everyday.

Nope, read it right the first time. I understood that obviously there would'nt be any of the said filth at the other end or even that Porn may not be mentioned.

There mere fact of someone wanting this stuff just makes me sick.

FBI Setting up Fake Child Porn Links very dangerous

What would keep a busted pedo from bailing out in a hour and coming to a site like ATS and using the link in posts here and getting a lot of ATS members busted on false charges.

This ranks with a plan by a group of pedo sites from russia to hide encrypted child porn on sites to infect computers all over the US so that the cops will find child porn on almost everyone's computers.

What if someone sent you this link but misrepresented it as a video of a baseball game or something? The problem is that simply visiting a site shouldn't trigger arrest, people are misdirected to sites all the time.

Also, how do they know who was at the computer when the site was visited? All they have is an external IP address. Most people leave their wireless access points open.

The potential for to ruin the lives of innocent people is just too high.

Scarey stuff.

Well I hope the link makes it very clear that it leads to CP. I’ve been on websites that play “post a random site games” and once clicked on CP thinking it was something else, it was a really sick joke I guess and I reported the site immediately. Wouldn’t want them busting into someone’s house who stumbled upon it by accident and didn’t comprehend the situation would we? Long as it is made clear the person is intent on viewing CP I see no problem with this. The person still gets a trial do they not? The only thing clicking the hyper link causes is for this person to be apprehended and their home and computer searched right? I think that is pretty fair for the law to do if you are caught trying to view child porn over the internet.

I think they need to focus on the people who make those types of videos in the first place. THEY are the ones harming children, not the ones who click on it out of curiosity or whatever else.

Would you rather have a pedophile sitting at home on his computer all day, or being out on the streets looking for children to pick up?

Focus on the source, not on the people who have the fetish. It doesn't solve the problem. It's essentially a "thought crime".

Color me stupid, if you will ... but wouldn't they be considered like one and the same?

Or are those who have the fetish then merely closet paedophiles?

You consider somebody who watches kiddy porn online, as bad as someone who goes out and rapes a child while video taping???? Really???

That's like saying the people who go to excessively gory sites to see the blood and whatnot, are as bad as murderers.

I'm not sure I understand. Isn't that kinda like saying you directly support child slave labor by owning a computer, even though the corporation that buys them ignores it?

Are people that watch horror movies or play GTA as bad as killers? I don't think so. I think it's just fantasy, albeit sick and twisted, but it's not real.
