I can not speak for anyone else but, 2001 A Space Odyssey was the first movie I had ever seen that introduced the concept of an alien being(s) interceding in the evolution of mankind.

I am not sure what if anything is meant by his dying now, so close to a time when so many of us believe the reality of Alien Beings is going to finally become obvious to even the most sceptical.

Hoowever, I thought a special a note about this man's passing belongs here on ATS somewhere.

I was so sorry to hear of his passing.

Of all the authors in the world I would have to say that his books have been the most enjoyable I've read, and the most influential on my life. I read voraciously when I was younger, and I'm sure I've read everything he ever put on paper.

He may be gone, but his body of work will keep him alive forever.
I think I'll dust off my copy of "Rendezvous With Rama" and give it another read.

Good-bye Sir, thanks for all the dreams and vision you gave me.
