Exclusive: Blackwater 'Blood Money' Angers Iraqis

At least two Iraqi families of victims killed by Blackwater security guards in September tell ABC News they have refused compensation offered by the company.

The father of a 9-year-old boy, who says his son was one of the 17 civilians killed when Blackwater guards, escorting a diplomatic convoy, opened fire at Baghdad's Nisour Square on Sept. 16, says he is trying to file a lawsuit against the company. He told ABCNews.com that Blackwater offered him $20,000 through an Iraqi prosecutor, but he refused the money.

Another Iraqi who lost both his wife and son in the incident says he too has refused the company's offer of compensation of $20,000 for each victim.

Wonderful...So the 'Mercs-for-Hire thugs from Blackwater are picking off women and children, and trying to pay off their families into silence with measely sums. Yet another digusting facet of this nauseating invasion...

Well this just proves the ways of the west are being accepted by Iraqi citizens. Under Saddam they wouldn't be allowed to sue or have council, they would be told to shut up or be killed. To deal with their loss and not expect a dime in compinsation. Now they are NOT taking settlements rather they are getting attorneys and going to court.....sounds like the American way to me...When in doubt...SUE!..lol

Blackwater is what it is...Mercs get used daily throughout the globe to settle conflicts, or help shift power. And just like anything else as we discuss on ATS often, there are bad apples in every bunch. The fact that some did not fire on the crowd that day and DID testify there was no threat proves that!

Not only disgusting, DD, but outright murder! Hope those mercs are
haunted to madness for what they've done.

Imagine how horrifying it is, for a loved one to be gunned-down dead...
Then compounded by not having justice!?!

Of course, no-one will do anything, especially prosecute anyone...
because a conviction would open up the U.S. to liability in many more!
