Russia ponders US missile deal

news.bbc.co.uk

Moscow says it has now received the proposals in writing it asked for from the Americans, aimed at allaying its suspicions that plans to base parts of a missile shield in Europe, allegedly to counter a potential Iranian threat, are really aimed at Russian defence installations.

America - "we are doing this FOR you not TO you"
Russia - " oh really? In that case go right ahead"

Yeah right! Iran has become very convenient for the US on many levels.....

Furhter to that, after the past so many months of antagonizing Russia......

George W Bush too, in his last few months as American president, would no doubt prefer to leave relations with Russia on an even keel.

That would be preferable to being remembered as the US president who left office with tensions with the old Cold War foe on the rise, and a major arms control treaty (the START arms pact, due to expire next year) left untidily unresolved, with no consensus on what should replace it.

So basically stir the pot but make nice just before leaving office? I dont think it goes that way

Seriously? No one thinks Bush sucking up to Russia on his way out is not worth a mention? or are we all just tired of the cold war that never was?

Right on, VIKINGANT. Star!

I've been catching what i can about this not-so-secret-anymore issue of
the missile defense system.

I'm afraid our U.S. gov has become quite a dichotomy. Say one thing;
MEAN & DO a totally different thing...

" Mind if i set up a huge rocket or two in your backyard ? " lol
