Well, I've read the book Titan A.E. when I was a boy.
The time period is in the 4th millennium where humans are being invaded by an alien race called the Drej whom are made of pure energy.
Apperently, Earth was invaded because humans has become a threat to the Drej.
It's an animated film, but I still liked it when I watched it. Heres the link:

The aliens actually do look like "aliens" and not just some humanoid. This is what I liked about the movie, because aliens shouldn't be like us. Sure you can argue that we are the "most" advanced form of life but there are many improvements that can be made on the human species.
Watch it people, very good movie. Better than all of those UFO videos in my oppinion.
